Though I am a Star Wars fan, it is also a like/dislike attitude I have about it.
First off, I am a well-read enough layman in science that I can recognize which laws of physics Star Wars violates, and second of all, why so many things make no logical sense whatsoever, even if it were possible. Example: broadsides between capital ships. W@$#$!? That is would be completely pointless, since the ships in question would ruin themselves, when they could just disable one another with stand-off (far beyond visual range) precision strikes, where the attacker is at minimal risk.
