They've done it. I don't know how, but they managed it. Maybe it was the food, maybe the tea, or maybe just me. But here is my tragic story:
About a year ago, I moved to the U.K. from the U.S. It's been a good year. (Honestly, Britain's a great country. But this is scary!) Then the changes began... first, I started picking up the lingo. (E.g. trousers, toe-mat-oh, etc.)
Big deal. that can be expected living in a new country.
Then my style started changing... ever so slightly. But still, it changed.
Next, I started guzzling tea by the gallon.I've always liked it, but this was like... an addiction. Weird....
just today, I was at a list of smilies carrying flags... and become infuriated when they didn't have a Union Jack! Since when did I care about whether there was a Union Jack or not!?
My conclusion is this, my friends: I'm turning British. My American patriotism is leeched out. I'm transforming, and near completion, too.
I'm afraid if I wait much longer, it'll be to late for me. I must resist! Use American phrases! Eat American foods! But will it help? Is it futile?
Help me, Uncle Sam. you're my only hope...
