A Night to Remember!
Hello everyone. Just wanted to tell you about the wonderful evening I had yesterday. I had the honour and privilege to be invited to the special Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences screening of Star Wars. It was the first in a series call "Great to be Nominated - Part 4" (or Episode IV). This series features films that received the most nominations for that year, but did not win Best Picture. It also celebrated the 30th anniversary of Star Wars.

I arrived at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater to see a large crowd waiting in line along Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills. I was fortunate enough to be invited to the reception where there were many of the talented people who made Star Wars possible. Not only were there Oscar nominees, but winners as well. From the cast, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were on hand. It was good to see them again, they both are always very kind.

I also ran into our favorite Lucasfilm web master, Pablo. He was impressed I was wearing a suit. It made me happy he thought I cleaned up well! Good to see you there pal.

It was a magical experience to be able to watch Star Wars on the big screen with the people who actually made the film. Next to me was Gary Kurtz, the producer. Behind me was Alan Ladd, Jr., the head of 20th Century Fox who green lighted Star Wars. Also behind me was George Lucas. And spread though out the theatre were editors, art directors, model makers, writers, and many others who all worked so hard to make Star Wars what it is. Thanks to all of you!

Before the screening, there was a great spot asking to turn off all mobile phones. It was great and I think it is going to be showing on starwars.com. If you get a chance, make sure to check it out.

After the screening, there was a panel of 15 people who made Star Wars possible. The people included in this panel were: George Lucas, Alan Ladd Jr., Gary Kurtz, Ben Burt, Jr., Robert Blalack, Richard Chew, John Dykstra, Richard Edlund, Paul Hirsch, Don MacDougall, Ray West, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill

I will never forget that evening and am honoured to have been invited.

Take care,
Daniel

I saw a report on this on Fox News yesterday morning. In the interview GL said that when he comes across a SW movie being aired on TV he can't change the channel even tho he's seen the movies a million times. I can't change the channel either. Go figure!!

Glad you had a wonderful experience.:D

Good to see you there, Daniel!

And, here's what I spent most of the night slaving away at: A COMPLETE transcript (except for the naughty words) of the entire 90-minute discussion panel at the end of the show:

We forgot to mention that we recently read in the latest Star Wars Insider that George Lucas hinted that there may be a young Boba Fett in the upcoming Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series. Our question is, if there is a young Boba Fett, would you be willing to lend your voice? It would be nice to see that. We heard that some of the other characters are.
