Two Hyperspace Navigators from Star Wars: The Essential Atlas
One of the best things about Star Wars: The Essential Atlas is the artwork of Chris Trevas. There are some great portraits of Lando, Mara Jade, fifty-year old Luke, and more, plus battle scenes and depictions of alien species (love the underwater Quarren miner).

One of the illustration suggestions that Jason and I listed in our original outline was "New art of a pair of hyperspace scouts at the controls of their craft, peering at an unknown world/starfield." At Comic-Con in San Diego in 2008, Chris decided it would be fun to use the two of us as photo reference.

The final full-color illustration is in the Atlas, but here's Chris' black and white version. It's the first time I've ever been Star Wars-ized.

Jason loves his space goggles, and I wish I could buy a jacket like that in real life. The dot that Jason's pointing at reads "UNKNOWN" in the Star Wars alphabet of aurebesh.

Star Wars: The Essential Atlas goes on sale August 18.
