I'm Not That Daniel Wallace
I hate telling people that I'm not the Daniel Wallace who wrote Big Fish, since he's...really good.

The worst was when my mom read in the Iowa City Press-Citizen about a "discussion group for the author Daniel Wallace," and assumed it was for me. Luckily, I prevented her from showing up carrying a copy of The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons.

This has made "self-Googling" -- the ultimate exercise in ego-stroking -- into a supremely humbling experience as I click through the listings and realize that I'm not...

Daniel Wallace, bestselling novelist whose Big Fish was turned into a Tim Burton film starring Ewan McGregor

British writer/comedian Danny Wallace, writer of Join Me and Are You Dave Gorman?, whose book Yes Man is being made into a movie starring Jack Black

The indie-rock musician Dan Wallace, whose newest album has been compared to Ben Folds and Radiohead

Gifted soccer player (sorry, football player) Danny Wallace, winger for Southhampton and Manchester United

Noted biblical scholar Daniel Wallace, Th.M., Ph.D.

Daniel Wallace, world traveler and author

The Daniel Wallace on Wikipedia

Daniel Wallace, expert on fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, Sjogren's syndrome, and lupus erythematsosus

Daniel Wallace the real-estate agent

Harvard crewer Daniel Wallace

Congressman Daniel Wallace, South Carolina representative in the 19th century

Dan Wallace M.D., attending physician at Cedars-Sinai

Dan Wallace, carver of totem poles

Sorry, Mom!

Don't give up! Start working your way up from the bottom.

1. I'll loan you my copy of "Toteming for Dummies"
2. All you need to do is be called the best doctor in Los Angeles, how hard can that be?
3. Rig the election
4. He don't look so tough!
5. Can I buy your house?
6. After being the best doctor in Los Angeles it'll be easy to write a huge book like that
7. You're already the Daniel Wallace on Wookieepedia :)
8.Do some field research on Endor for your next guide

See?! It couldn't be easier! One day very soon there will be a young boy who became a doctor because he was inspired by you asking you to sign a totem pole as he walks into the voting booths to elect you.

In the words of Stella Purdy, from the original "Nutty Professor": "Being just one person is more than enough for any body to manage".

Prof. Kelp (aka Jerry Lewis): You better like you, since you're going to be spending a lot of
time with you.

Really though, to all us SW fans theres only one DW - Darth Wallace :D Thats gotta count for something... unless I need to commission a totem pole that is.

You may not be those above, but you are "the" Daniel Wallace - Explorer of The Essential Chronology, The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, The Essential Guide to Droids, and The New Essential Guide to Characters. in the Star Wars Universe. So there ya go.

Those aren't so bad, really. I google my real name and I get a artist/illustrator who, while talented, is not something I would do AT ALL. And since I was one of those artsy kids in the Time Before Computers, I admit I'm kinda worried that people will think I'm her...

You know, you guys are right. Seeing my name applied to lots of successful people is far better than the alternative. Remember the episode of Seinfeld where Elaine dates a guy with the same name as a serial killer?

I remember that: "Hey! Dan wrote this movie? He's been holding out on me!" :)

I also thought it was pretty funny that the Fibromyalgia book is an "Essential Guide." :^O

That said, I do believe the Art of Superman Returns was written by the right dude. Congratulations! I can't wait for that movie.

:^O I remember that episode. "Ned's a guy who buys irregular underwear"
Lines like those are what MADE Seinfeld. Love it.

Nobody else has my name so there's no fun in it ;)

LOL, Part II. The irony is just too much... :^O :^O :^O

Anyways, I'm kinda happy that when you Google my name, only Star Wars pops up. Well, except for some random sports team member from somewhere and the usual GoogleTrash. ;)

You've just made me very happy about my own name. Nobody else going under "The Stooge," that's for sure. Not even Mel Gibson.

Aww, but of all the Dan Wallaces, you're my favorite! ;)

You don't know how many times I've looked in the local paper and saw that "Dan Wallace" was doing a book signing at the local bookstore, then found out it was some imposter. My wife knows your name now, because I've told her probably 20 times "I'm finally going to get my copy of The New Essential Gudie to Characters autogr-- um, hold on... it's that other guy."
