This was my second Celebration. My first was C3 in Indianapolis - oh Indy, how I miss you! Your familiar streets! Your non-confusing hotels! Your reasonably priced food! But I have to admit that the Los Angeles Convention center was much better suited to the huge crowds, and a four-hour flight beats a five-hour drive, because at least I could read.
Anyway, on to the con!
Amazingly enough, I did actually manage to meet a couple folks - , several Wookieepedians (including
jSarek and
Arf Maul) as well as
Halagad and even
The Stooge (very briefly.)
I didn't make the Blogger party - I wanted to, but it was scheduled exactly opposite
the lone all-CJ gathering of the con and the impending arrival of a friend
who flew over from Germany. D'oh. Next time?
Sounds like it was a great time, and kudos to DJ Maul for pulling it off, as arranging things like that is never easy. (Outgrowing the resturant space - we had the same thing happen to us at C3!)
Anyway, I was volunteering on the Game Squad, and I spent most of my time hanging out and asking trivia questions in the
Fan Club Lounge. It went very well, and the lounge was much, much busier than it was at C3 (no doubt because we had a cash bar!) so there was plenty to do. Who knew Star Wars fans loved trivia so much?
Friday night
we served cake. It was ridiculous. I shall not speak any more of it.
I did manage to get
a pretty good overview of the Con, making
all the panels I wanted and even catching the 30-minute trilogy with my pal Luci... Hilarious! I hadn't managed to see it at C3 and it is not to be missed. (Still didn't manage the One-Man Trilogy, as it was always scheduled during my work times... Oh well!)
Monday was the worst day... It was the very last, (sob) we had gone to see
a very late show of Pirates 3 in Hollywood Sunday night, and then I spent most of the day
isolated as a stop on the Kessel Run. Which, I think turned out better for me than actully
doing the Kessel Run, because I can't do
Sudoku to save my life. In fact, I think I'd rather stamp stuff and camp outside the coat check for a few hours. It's a hard life, ain't it? (Though I did feel bad handing out the dreaded Sudoku puzzles to frustrated Runners.)
Then I flew home. Sadness.
Exhausting, but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat.
