Do Droids Lie?
Okay, so everyone keeps talking about inconsistencies real or imagined between the PT and the OT, but how about this strictly from the OT? One of Threepio's first lines is "There'll be no escape for the Princess this time". Obviously he knows Leia from the past 20 years of being in Captain Antilles' service. So why then does he tell Luke that he's "not quite sure" who Leia is, only that she was a person of some importance on their last voyage? Is he lying to protect the Princess, or is this a story inconsistency? The main reason I ask is because once Luke leaves the garage, Threepio indignantly tells R2 to reconsider playing the message for him, and that R2 can trust Luke because he's his new master now.

If Threepio were lying about who the Princess is, why would he be so angry with R2 for doing the same thing?
