Did Palpatine Know That Padme Was Dead?
In ROTS, when Vader asks Palpatine about Padme, Palps says "it seems in your anger, you killed her". It occured to me while watching tonight that if Padme had survived, this would have been devastating to Vader and Palpatine's relationsihp if Vader ever discovered his master had lied to him about her fate. Would Palpatine take such a chance? Did he plan on having her hunted down and executed so that Vader never knew she lived, then later found out she had actually died? Or did he somehow know through the Force that she had perished? If so, he would have known about the kids too, so I doubt that is the case. Thoughts?

"IT SEEMS IN YOUR ANGER YOU KILLED HER" Wasn't it creepy the way Palpy smiled when he saw Anakin/DV'S reaction to Padme's "death". Shows how truly evil and cruel he was. I'm not sure Palpatine knew she was dead at that time but it was a good way to have DV all to himself. If she would have lived, DV attentions would have been elsewhere and the Emperor wouldn't have much of an enforcer.

Right, but it was a huge risk for Palps, knowing that Vader might find out sometime in the future that she had survived and realize he had lied...amazing how there is always something new to discuss every time we watch these movies. :) Yes, Palpy's smile was creepy and so perfectly done.

Read 'Darth Vader -Dark Lord of The Sith' Novel. Palpatine thinks that Padme died on Mustafar. But Vader knows she was alive and that he didnt kill her on that planet.

Sidious and Vader never really liked each other. The Emperor was always looking for a new apprentice and it seems that Vader was always eager to kill Sidious.

May the Force be with us all! God bless!

Bail Organa would have to have contacted someone after the death of a senator. This information wouldve gotten to the chancellor/emperor pretty quickly, especially in a universe with super luminal communication. My guess is that Palpatine wouldve been told during Vader's reconstruction that she had died & possibly having detected her presence when he arrived on Mustafar, put 2 & 2 together & got 4 & a half.

Solo smelly is right. Plus you have to wonder how palpatine/Vader found out that luke was his son. Okay so maybe the surname gives it away but as far as i know Vader never had an affair with anyone but Padme.....
