I was reading Matthew Stover's novelization of Episode III the other day, and something struck me.

What if Obi-Wan and Padmè had something?

Now, before you call me crazy, if you read the novel and watch the movie, there are subtle hints throughout that point to an Obi/Padmè romance. when Padmè says there is one Jedi she knows she can trust, she realizes she is talking not about Anakin, but Obi-Wan. Anakin notices in the Force that the two were sitting together on Padmè's couch at a distance a little too close for casual conversation. The two talk together in numerous scenes in the novel. It may be a bit of a stretch, but I think they could have been good togeteher.
