Unsung Heroes (and Villains)
Firmus Piett: This Imperial becomes Admiral of the Executor after Vader offs Admiral Ozzel, and he remains one of my favorite charcters in the movies. He's a respectful man, but not afraid to question superiors like Ozzel when necessary. He has tactical brilliance, and, according to The New Essential Guide to Charcters, Vader thought he could match one of the twelve Grand Admirals. He dies unmourned when Arvel Crynyd makes a kamikaze run on the Executor during the Battle of Endor, but does his duty to the last.
Jek Porkins: This Rebel pilot, known as "Belly Runner" to his wingmates, dies heroically during the Battle of Yavin when he can't pull out of a dive. While the X-Wing series gives him some credit, the movies largely pass over his story.
Tiann Jerjerrod: The Imp in charge on the second Death Star, he isn't afraid to question the Emperor's methods and stand up to Darth Vader, all while being polite.
