Let's face it, George Lucas and his dedicated staff know OPSEC (operational security). They know how to keep a secret. As a result they achieved their apparent goal of surprise with today's news regarding a "media event" that kicks off in 2007. Needless to say my interest is piqued, and thus I'm hooked as the "powers that be" intended. The unnamed project, which I propose should be called
Blue Harvest II: Electric Boogaloo (children of the 80's should get that reference) until such time as a title is released, evokes memories of
Shadows of the Empire. Will there be a novel? I dunno. Will there be a video game? I dunno. Will there be tie-in comics. I dunno. Will there be a soundtrack. I dunno. Will there be action figures? I dunno. Does this tie-in to either of the upcoming television series? I dunno.
Cue Burt Reynolds: "
Well who the *heck* knows?!" (that reference is for children of the 70's).
What I
do know is that I'll be checking Hyperspace for details every day between now and 2007. I'm a sucker for campaigns such as this. Back in college I purchased every
Shadows tie-in that hit the shelves. You have to remember that it featured the first new fiction covering Vader since
Return of the Jedi. That was a big deal to hardcore EU fans like myself.
Besides, the prominent role of Boba Fett in the story didn't hurt the coolness factor either. What distinctives this project will bring our way I do not know...

It appears as though the super-secret project is a video game incorporating new technology. See the article
