So, after reading the now 11 year old
Jedi Academy trilogy, by Kevin J. Anderson (i was 6 when they first came out) i find myself in a dilema.
These books completely contradict the story of the death star. Whilst the "fully canon" AOTC clearly shows us those clever termites the geonosians dreamt up the death star, in the Jedi Academy trilogy, it was said that it was the creation of the maw installation, and worked upon by the brilliant, if slightly naive scientist Qwi Xux.
A backstory on Qwi: Qwi was taken as a small child by Grand Moff Tarkin to a facility orbiting her home planet. Many other children were taken from the planet also, all from different hives. As her species had a particular aptitude for being able to store enginering and mechanical knowledge, they were each taught as much as the imperial teachers could cram into their tiny minds. If a child failed a test, their hive was destroyed from orbit, and they were "removed" from the program.
As the sole graduate from this project, she was taken to the secret maw installation, inside the middle of the maw itself (a collection of black holes) and put to work on such technologial terrors as the
Death Star, Sun
Crusher, and the
World Devastator.
But of course, you guys already knew all that
So there is the dilema, is the entire story of Qwi Xux rejected, simply because Ep2 tells us to, or do we choose for ourselves which story we prefer, and take that as canon?
I myself keep the story of Qwi, and reject the story told by the movie.
Any comments are welcome
