This has bothered me since I've seen RotS for the 2nd time.

Mace*to Anakin*: No. If what you tell me is true, you will have gained my
trust. Wait in the council chamber until we return.


UNTIL?? Not a drop of doubt in Mace's voice. Palpatine was right. The Jedi were arrogant. Or was it that Mace didn't believe Anakin? When Mace said 'until' (I don't know if I got the conversation totally right) did Anakin think he was being ignored? This is not the case apparently because Mace did attemp to arrest Palpatine. But should he have been more careful? Did his careless words condemn the Republic to destruction?
