A Lot of Limericks and Nonsense

Oblivious to the Obvious
I do have my humorous side, but today, I've got to let my serious side show.

There's no easier way to put this, but I am fundamentally troubled by the blindness of our own society. What scares me even more, is that what was so easily transparent in the Star Wars universe is not so transparent to so many people in our own country.

Today we live in a society where the people are constantly handing more and more control of their daily lives over to our government. First, we allow our government to steal more than a third of the money we earn (income tax - otherwise known as wealth redistribution), then we expect our government to take care of us (i.e. welfare, public housing, government funded education, proposed national healthcare, Medicare, etc.). All of these programs are a miserable failure, yet our government seems to sway public opinion to convince us that not only do we need these programs, but they need to increase our taxes so that we don't "lose them."

In fact, our government thrives on the dependence of its people upon its programs and preys upon the ignorant in telling them that the people trying to eliminate these government programs in order to replace them with beneficial and more efficient, private programs are "hate-mongers."

What ever happened to "government of the people, by the people and for the people?" We now have terminologies like "career politician." These are people who have been in Washington D.C. so long that they are more worried about staying in office than actually doing anything that would truly benefit the people.

When we watch in horror as the Emperor in Revenge of the Sith adeptly manipulates an entire galaxy into accepting one supreme ruler to "take care of the galaxy," it is plain to everyone. As I sit and watch each night as our extremely politically-biased, mainstream news pumps the liberal agenda into our public like the Emperor led the Senate around by the nose, I truly wonder if this country truly knows what its government is trying to do.

Never before since we tried to break away from King George has this country been so threatened. Will we continue to keep handing over more of our freedoms for the sake of letting the government "take care of us?" Or, will we again truly be a country that can declare we still have our independence!
