Yoda always taught the younglings a lesson in handling space creatures, especially mynocks in particular. He explained how annoying they could be, especially when they chewed on a ship's power cables, and he wanted them to know how to get rid of them in a non-violent way. Plo Kloon, who was quite gifted in dealing with different space-dwelling creatures, had developed a Force technique for confusing the mynocks into leaving without having to be killed. But, there was a caveat: Be sure to execute it correctly, for there is only ONE CHANCE for it to work, and if attempted again, it would enrage the mynocks.

Case in point: Mace Windu and a young Kitt Fisto were returning from a mission, and they had stopped at a spaceport to refuel before returning to Coruscant. It was especially infested with mynocks, and sure enough, by the time they were done refueling a few had attached themselves to the ship. Remembering Plo Kloon's advice, they executed the technique, but Kitt hadn't quite mastered the technique, and so a few returned before he and Mace could take off. Still young and a bit inexperienced, Kitt forgot Yoda's warning and performed the technique again, enraging the flock of mynocks into a frenzy. Both he and Mace were forced to defend themselves, resulting in the death of six mynocks. When they returned, Yoda scolded Kitt and reminded him of what he'd been taught:
