Since I've told you about the DJ side of my life, I thought I'd tell you about my most absolute favorite reception:
It was a
Star Wars-themed wedding that happened about 8 years ago. No, unfortunately I don't have any pictures, but I can still remember all of the details; and it was one of those rare occasions where I was asked to play music for both the ceremony AND the reception. It was held at a really nice hall in southern Illinois where the ceremony was done at one end, and then the reception was on the other - very well planned and thought out.
So, where do I begin? If you can imagine every detail being made
Star Wars, that's how extremely they carried it out. Imperial and Rebel soldiers met you as you entered the hall, and everyone's costumes looked as authentic as they were in the movie - nothing cheap. When you walked into the reception hall, they had even had someone come in and make one of the corridors look like something right out of the Death Star, lighted panels and all!
The bride and groom were dressed as Han Solo and Princess Leia. "Han" was wearing a very nice looking version of his outfit from ESB, and "Leia" had the outfit from the ANH Throne Room, hair-style and everything. The best man was wearing a very convincing Chewbacca costume - in fact he was 6'4", so that even added to the appearance. The rest of the groomsen were stormtroopers. The Maid of Honor was Mon Mothma, and the bridesmaids were a so-so Twi'lek, and non-descript rebels.
To be continued tomorrow...
