Ah the Force, such a transient concept and so many different ideas about it. After reading Darth Hiram's latest entry,
The mystery of The Force I was so compelled, I couldn't fit my all my thoughts into my reply! So here it is all laid out in a my own blog entry.
I conceive the Force as an energy field. Some people are conductors of that energy, and some are not. How you use that energy determines light and dark (though that seems like an entirely different blog entry).
The Force also has two sides (and here I
don't mean dark/light), almost like two personalities. There's the physical, power and manipulation side and then there's the spiritual, guidance and feeling side. Sometimes these are completely different, like Luke doing a Force leap vs. Luke meditating on the future, and sometimes they exist together, like the danger sense, which is like a feeling to warn a Jedi about something physical. All pretty complicated.
Also, I never understood the problem's that people had with midi-chlorioans. Sure, they took some of the mystery out of the equation, but it wasn't a contradiction of anything that I understood or thought about the Force. If anything, midi-chlorians only confused the situation more, making it more mysterious. Where do they come from? Are they anything like the
mitochondria that really do exist inside humans and other living things? Why do some people in Star Wars have more than others?
So I guess my idea's are a combination of spirituality and scientific thought. What makes the Force so special and interesting though? Again, I think its the mystery behind it all. Why can only some people use it and what exactly is that like? Oh man, do I want an answer to that last question!
