For a long time now, have I feared the
worst. But at last, this morning my fears were silenced. It's snowing
Well, to be frightfully honest, it's just about a couple of centimeters (a little challenge, perhaps, for those who are of the imperal percuation). As a result, the office has been bombarded with phonecalls for tickets to both
Hoth and Tatooine.
But to be serious-ish, this time of year is my absolute favourite. Sure, there's the snow, giving and recieving gifts, a lot of great food and all that. But the best thing to do is spreading the
word. Not about some long dead magician, oh no. I'm talking Star Wars baby!
Last tuesday, after our final exam, most of my school-class went out for the famous
"julebord". I'm at a loss for an english word, but it's the party where, after a bit to much to drink, you tell the boss exactely what you think of him/her. While dancing with him/her on the table. Anyway, the party corresponded withthe birthday of a girl in my class, so we had a bit of cake and everything. The thing was though, that she had made her own cake, whereas I'm used to others baking a cake for me on my birthday. Last year I got one shaped as Darth Vaders head, and I told her about this, proud as I was.
Who's Darth Vader?, she asked.
Never had my flabber been so thouroughly ghasted. I was amased. Here was someone that had never heard of Darth Vader. OK, I know that there are people that have never seen any of the movies in their life,
but never heard of DV? What will become of the world, I really don't know.
Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to spread the word, as they say. Hope I get another chance at newyears eve.
Enjoy the hollidays people, and bring the joy of Star Wars to your neighbourhood and friends. And avoid the boss.
CORRIEVORRIE
Corridor etiquette demands that once a corriedoo has been declared, corrievorrie must be employed. Both protagonists must now embellish their approach with an embarrassing combination of waving, grinning, making idiot faces, doing pirate impressions, and waggling their head from side to side while holding the other person's eyes as the smile drips off their face, until with great relief, they pass each other.
