I'm sure you've noticed that the Plagueis novel is not listed. It's true. The novel has been cancelled. We decided that this was not the right time to delve into Palpatine's back story and Plagueis's beginnings. You'll still see Jim Luceno around, though, as he's an author we are not willing to lose.
The actual pub day for the later novels isn't listed because the day hasn't been confirmed, and those books could come out the end of the month before.
Thanks so much for your support over these years -- you all are absolutely the best!

Please forgive me, Sue, but I'm extremely disappointed by the Plagueis novel being cancelled. I actually really WANTED to know Palpatine's and Plagueis' backstory. Could you please elaborate on what led to this decision? How was it decided that it wasn't a good time? Who said what when? Can you do that for me, please? I'd appreciate the insight.
Oh, and I've been loving the detailed LOTF timelines. Could you please keep those going as well? I'd appreciate that, too. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for the updated schedule, Sue!
It's great to hear you're keeping Jim Luceno in the stable of authors. I've really enjoyed every single one of his books. I think he really captures the space opera flair of the movies, and his characterizations are always spot on. If he swaps out the Plagueis topic for a different one, that'd be great with me.
And thank you for all the work you've done over the years! As far as I'm concerned, the EU novels are consistently great, and as strong as they've ever been. Well done!

It's totally fine by me that the Plagueis novel is cancelled. In fact, I am glad. I never wanted the mystery ruined.

Great ... the novel that actually was about Star Wars is cancelled. Isn't it ironic, don't you think?
I must admit I'm a bit disappointed.

I'm looking forward to all these books ... I'm a huge fan of any SW era reading. However, I'll be honest that I'm disppointed about the Plageuis novel being cancelled. I was really anticipating that one. Any idea when that might be considered for publication?

No, you guys over at Lucasfilm Licensing are the best!!! You are going out of your way to keep us informed with early information about upcoming books through these blogs and the forums, and I am grateful for that! I hope you NEVER quit your current job!
And I hope Del Rey will keep the contract for the next period (into the tv-series and beyond)... (I have the same hopes for Dark Horse, as the editors over there are also very informative!)
Now, back to my website to update the release-schedule...

I agree Son of a Bith, I'm not unhappy the Plagueis novel has been shelved for the time being. The mystery of Palpatine's youth and his master is one of the cooler question marks in Star Wars, and a mystery that's actually beneficial to the story.
Thanks for the update, Sue!

I have to say that I'm saddened to hear that the Darth Plagueis novel has been cancelled. That book was something I think that everyon was looking forward to. Personally I wanted to find out about Plagueis and see Qui-Gon again. Hope the replacement is good.

I'm extremely dissapointed to see that the Plagueis novel has been cancelled. While I understand the feelings of leaving some things unanswered, I also like the opportunities to explore some of the darker events. The Darth Bane novel was a great read for me because it would go places that the movies might not otherwise go. This was another opporunity to explore the Sith. I hope the idea gets revisited!

Add me to the list of very saddened readers due to the Plagueis cancellation. The history of the Sith is my favorite part of Star Wars (yes, I'm a bad guy).
Sue - Is there any chance of ever seeing a Knights of the Old Republic Novel? Those games are awesome, and with their inclusion into the New Essential Chronology it would seem like a good time to expose non-gamer fans to this critical period in history. Whatcha think?

Although I'm not a Sith fan, I'm excited when I read about the history of the Jedi and the Sith (Darth Bane's novel was great to read). Therefore I'm disappointed to read that the Darth Plagueis novel was canceled.
But I was happy to read that there will be a novel for "The Force Unleashed" And I agree that a novel covering the "Knights of the Old Republic" video game would be great!
Thanks a lot for informing us about everything!

This comment is a bit on the late side, but--
You know, I'm actually with Son of a Bith and Abel on the Plagueis thing. When that was announced, I actually thought it was a bit early to be delving into that stuff. Of course, I was excited, because it's an awesome premise. And I was a bit disappointed when I first heard. But there's so much else going on right now, and that's such a giant issue... perhaps it's best to hold off on that until there's time to give it the treatment it deserves.

And it's nice to leave a little mystery. You know, with the movies done, a lot of that is gone. Plagueis seems like one of the final hooks the movies left. It's fun to speculate.
As for Mr. Luceno, I hope you guys have something else in mind for him, or he has something else in mind for you. He's an awesome writer.
Anyways, thanks as always for keeping us updated, Ms. Rostoni.
