Star Wars the Next Generation
Star Wars the Next Generation...

First and foremost, a heartfelt "thank you" to George Lucas himself, for bringing to us all this awesome world of adventure, outer space and wonder. Not to just my generation, or my father's, but to all those to follow.

As a true Generation Star Wars Child, I have had the privilege, no the honor, to say that I was one of the first to experience the world of Star Wars. I was nine years old when I first saw A New Hope on opening day in my hometown of Los Angeles, CA. What I saw that day, I can not explain. It wasn't just a movie but what I saw would change my life forever.

I am now an adult with kids of my own. My father obviously is a grandfather, who by the way was first in line to see each prequel trilogy movie, and even watched them at 2:30 in the morning at the local theater. As President of his company, he can do whatever he likes. This seemed strange to some that a man of his stature would do such a thing, but it only confirms how awesome this story is.

I myself, watched the remaining two OT movies growing up and even Episode I while pregnant with my second son, but then missed Episode II.

Last summer I took my boys, then 9 and 5 to see Episode III at the theater. With awe I watched it... totally consumed again as I was as a child. Had I forgotten this love I had as a youngling? Were Anakin and Padme really married? What was going on? All of a sudden I am sucked back into that state of mind that I had as a nine year old... a state of curiosity, wonder and excitement! I went straight to the video store and rented Episode II.

Since then, well you know... here I am!

Enough about me...

What I really wanted to discuss today was the way Star Wars has been passed down during the past 29 years to the next generations.

Recently we've seen blogs describing our kids. You've heard about Oboe and Wifeof Vader's light saber yielding children. Ami's SW joke telling six year old, RexO's little purple dude, Z-score's nephews, MomOfTwoPadawan's kids and more... all who speak of their children's love of the Saga.

Imagine how long this is going to continue. How many more lives will be moved by morals taught from the Star Wars movies and novels...

It's a good thing... it's a good, good thing....
