Summertime and the livin is easy
As some of you know, I've been on vacation this past week havin some fun with the kiddos before they start school on Monday. Even though we had no plans to go anywhere special, its been the best vacation I've had in a long, long time.

We went to the beach and had a blast. The waves were great, the sun was warm and the water temp has averaged low to mid 70's! My 7 year old lost his fear of waves finally and I couldn't keep him out of the water if I tried! While he and I were in the water I went to duck down under one and lost my balance. The force of the wave knocked me on my butt and I rode it in to shore sitting down backwards! LOL Talk about sand in unwanted places. LOL

Then I thought I'd lay out and get some sun, not like I need anymore (sheesh), and I actually fell asleep... there's nothing like the sound of the waves to put you to sleep, right? Anyhoo, I woke up super hot and ran down to the water to go for a swim. Just then I see my boys and some others standing around looking at something. I go over to check it out and almost spewed at the sight of this GUY, a 2-3 foot jellyfish someone had caught. YUCK!

So there I was faced with the decision of going in the water and risk getting stung by one of these suckers, or playing it safe and stay out of the water. I sat down right there and meditated on it. LOL

So what do you guys think I did? Curious to see if you guys really know me, so YOU tell ME! ;)

We also went to a pool party where they roasted a pig in the ground! A friend of mine I met through Myspace, Tami, had recently moved to Cali from Idaho and and she and I had been hoping to meet in person. I called her Saturday morning to see if she had any plans for her birthday that day and when she said it looked like she'd be spending her b-day alone, I invited her to the pool party. She and I had a blast. We went and got our nails and toes done and went to the party about 2pm last Saturday. The girl is too COOL. She and I are a lot alike. We both love football and the same music, and it turns out her cousin is Terry Bradshaw! She spent the night and we stayed up giggling until the wee hours of the morning.

Tuesday I kicked it by the pool with the boys which was fun. We took a bunch of silly pictures and enjoyed sandwiches and watermelon while we were out there.

Wednesday was a FUN day! We went school clothes shopping in the AM and afterward went to THE WAVE, a local water park. My youngest surprised me yet again when he fearlessly decided he was going to ride the man-made wave on top of going on the Slam-dunk which is an insanely fast small tube waterslide. Jr kicked butt as well on the wave! Afterward I took the boys to Islands for lunch and we had virgin pina coladas. :)

Thursday and Friday I just relaxed at home and tried to get the house in order before the school year starts on Monday...

Throughout all this I've really enjoyed hanging out and chatting with my dear SW bloggin friends online. :x We've had some fun and a lot of laughs and as my vacation winds down I can truly say that I am fully relaxed and ready to go back to work. Well, I'm not TOO excited to see what my "in-box" looks like, let alone the 200+ emails that no doubt are waiting for me. LOL

Take good care and as always,

Lots a love!:x

I must be strange cuz I think the Jelly fish is cool!
But I'll agree it can stay in the water and I'll stay out:)

The best vacations are the unplanned ones. YUP!! They are the most relaxing also!

I started school on the 14th. Not going to, driving the bus.
I forgot how many muscles it takes to drive a bus for 3 1/2 hrs straight. OUCH!

Hope school goes well for our kidos.:)

sometimes the BEST vacations are spnt at HOME, especially if you happen to live in an area where there are fun things to do close by...obviously you do!

Im willing to bet you went in the water anyway, at least long enough to cool off, then got right the heck OUT.

That jelly looks like an escapee from the set of an Alien movie....:O

I see you're using punctuation again

:^O Girl that was the hardest thing to keep up with (my vow to not punctuate while on vacation)!!! Plus, I need to get back in the groove for work tomorrow. You wouldn't want me to send out letters to customers that way, would you? LOL :x

you had to have gone into the water. with the jellyfish they are so soft and fun to smash with a stick on the beach. Yep! You got that right Zach! On both counts. LOL

I take it you live near the ocean? :D

Wow, what a fantastic vacation!!!! Of course, I know the area in which you live, and it's a great place to chill out and have some fun with the Padawans...

I think you stayed out of the water rather than risk a sting! I would have, but I'm a big fat chicken butt... on the other hand, I hate being hot...

The water slide looks awesome, I've always wanted to do one but I'm scared of high places... among other reasons...

Too bad you have to go back to work.... and the boys back to school, bummer....

Awesome! Sounds like the greatest time!! Just chilling on the beach with the boys...checking out disgusting dead jellyfish...oh, the life. :^O

Actually, I loooove the ocean and used to quite enjoy finding dead creatures (jellyfish, crabs, etc.) lying around on the beach. Sand crabs, though. Those guys I prefer alive so I can try to catch them! :D It's awesome when they try to dig through your hand...

Anyway, I'm so glad to hear you had a wonderful vacation & got to spend some quality time with your sweet boys. Best of luck going back to work this week.

Love you, Shelly Bean!:x

Sounds like a fun vaca. It's the best spending time with the kiddos with no time pressure, nowhere you have to be, just hangin out and having fun. That's what it's all about.

I have to echo the consensus here about the jellyfish: Ewwwwwwww!

quite enjoy finding dead creatures

Oh, heck yeah! So fun! I had a shovel (your can barely see it in the pic) that I was using and you wouldn't believe how many we caught! We fed them to a regular crab we had caught. Now THAT was a sight you'd love! Watching him eat the little suckers!
:D

Love you baby girl! mwah!

Sounds like a blast. I can tell just from your blog what a great time you had!! :x :x

I came face to face with a couple of jellyfish while boogie boarding way out by a sand bar at the Outer Banks once. SCARY!! (I kept boarding though, lol)

I know this is late, m, but I just wanted to say that it sure sounds like you had a rip-roarin' good time. Just like Dorothy learned, you don't have to travel too far from home to have fun! (okay, so Oz was in color and home was b&w, but that really isn't the point. ;))

Sorry I missed you when I was in CA. I'll catch you next go around!

(and, as far as that jellyfish is concerned . . . let's just say I can see you venturing into the water. If you did, I hope you didn't get stung!)
