Star Wars Book Review: Exile, by Aaron Allston.

Most of you are probably aware of the latest Legacy of the Force series, of which there have now been four books released (Betrayal, Bloodlines, Tempest, and now Exile) They have a lot of emotional impact and are different from earlier Star Wars novels that stood alone more.

I've always been a fan of Aaron Allston's contributions to the Star Wars universe. He's written roughly half of the Rogue Squadron series (highly recommended), and started off this new series with Betrayal, which was a great read. I like what he's done in the latest novel as well. There's a lot of story lines going on at the same time here, and he expertly maneuvers between them while keeping the reader's attention. I especially liked seeing such characters as Wedge Antilles and Corran Horn (It is Allston, after all, so there's bound to be pilots afoot), and really liked what he did with Ben Skywalker as well. I don't want to give away too much here, but a certain vision from Edge of Victory: Rebrith that pertains to Ben is fulfilled in this novel. The ending was great, which makes me want to read Sacrifice all the more. There are a few downers in the book for me, but I won't go into them at this time, as I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the book yet. (Go get it!!)

Recent Star Wars News:

I first read about this Sci/Fi film poll on April Fool's Day, so I wasn't quite sure if it was legitimate or not. I'm still not entirely sure it's real, so bear that in mind. Apparently there was an online poll regarding people's favorite Sci/Fi film, and Star Wars: A New Hope, after being the leader for over 60 years, lost to Joss Whedon's Serenity, the spin-off to his excellent but short-lived TV series called Firefly, which are both excellent. "Times are changing, that's for sure", one man said. (ME!)
