Where have all the fanboys gone?
It seems that fandom or should I say super fandom is only represented by the masses at a local movie theater when a new Star Wars film is released. I have yet to see another movie franchise capture the level of fandom, where people will call in sick to work or even quit their jobs in order to go see a movie. I have been asking my fellow Star Wars fans in the south about this for quite some time. No one seems to have an answer to why there are no fanboys or fangirls waiting in line for hours on end to see the latest Harry Potter film or Marvel film? I ask you, the only superfans left, where have all the fanboys gone for this new generation of movie goers? Will there ever be people lined up days before a movie is released in anticipation, or is this the end of the superfan?
