Smugglers Rants

Mister Solo, Please Would You Come to the Front of the Class.
Morning people,
I'm having some thoughts about the forthcoming TV show (a project that, of course, I should be writing, but that's Hollywood I guess. Well, actually, it's Flannelwood, but you know what I mean...)
There are accepted parts of Star Wars lore that have been turned over by the prequels. Ben and Owen being brothers, the back history of Boba Fett, Yoda training Ben, etc.
I am very curious to see what Lucas does with the youth of Han Solo. As it stands he was born on Correllia, was a hot swoop racer, joined the Imperial Accademy, freed Chewie from slavery, was discharged, won the Falcon from Lando and became a smuggler.
But does anyone else think that's how it will go down on TV? We already know that Lucas approved a raggedy, scraggy kid Solo for a scene in ROTS before (having the good sense) not shooting it.
Perhaps even more than the age-old "Greedo shot first" arguement (don't get me started!) that would change the `tone' of Solo's character.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for blogging about Solo. I have seen nothing about him in the blogs. As too his character maybe they will make 1 episode devoted to telling of his freeing Chewie and his smuggler life.

I believe Ol' George stated at CIII (I was in the audiance of course) that there will not be any MAIN charecters from the movies in the series, so I wouldn't expect to see Solo there.

Han Solo is a great character: clever, bold, and independent. Where Luke and Vader occupied the extremes of the Force in the OT, Han represented the folks 'just trying to make their way through the universe.' Han is one of the few characters I wish they wouldn't expand too much on. It's difficult to relate to the Jedi and Sith especially because the Force isn't real (sorry) and lightsabers don't exist....

...With Han, it's different. It's not hard to imagine any of us trying to elude the authorities (think back to when you were a kid trying to hide from your parents - or the cops (jk)). He's on the road (or in space), drinking, and trying to have a good time in the midst of the daily grind, with creditors always trying to nail him. However, the more 'they' attribute to him, the less 'normal' he becomes. I think they've gone too far with Han in the EU; I hope his past isn't spoiled should they go further there.

I Think that Han solo is one of the best charcters Lucas created. I like how he has stayed the same since the movies in EU books. In the newest books he like in his 60's but he the same han solo we all enjoyied seen In Star wars A New Hope. What even funnier is that he has had a big inpact on young Ben skywalker who wants to be just like his Uncle Han and wants nothing or very little to do with the Force.
