...the final moments of
Return of the Jedi and the
Star Wars trilogies...
The Emperor is blasting Luke Skywalker into oblivion with his sith lightening as Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker watches helplessly from behind his ebony mask.
Through his mind he must be running so many thoughts. Memories, regrets, decisions made that he wished he could change but knows he can't. He was raised as the Chosen One, the one who would bring balance to the Force. But all he succeded in doing was destroying the Jedi and becoming Palpatine's servant.
He makes a decision. He thinks of what his son has said and lifts Palpatine, taking terrible damage himself and throws him down the reactor shaft.
Finally, after so many years of horror, the prophecy of the Chosen One has come true.
During those years of his training Anakin was never a true part of the light side. He always had the shadows of anger, fear and aggression hanging over his head.
So was this the first (and only) time Anakin Skywalker was a true, unblemished Jedi Knight - and hence why he was able to become a Force spirit and rejoin his fellow Jedi in the afterlife?
