Lightsabre Interview with Rick McCallum
Ok guys and gals, we're pretty excited about this one...

Back in mid-March I was lucky enough to secure an interview with the producer of Young Indy, the special editions and the prequels Rick McCallum. I was contacted by Tracy Cannobio of Lucasfilm publicity and asked to call The Ranch...

Yep, you heard me, THE RANCH

...and fully expected a fifteen minute blast through some set questions with Rick before he would be whisked away to far more weighty matters than chatting to the Brummie webmaster of a small UK-based Star Wars fan site.

Boy was I wrong.

During the 40 minutes we talked we covered such topics as Rick's past career, his involvement with the saga, digital cinema and it's future, my two nephews, Celebration Europe...oh, and when my phone went dead after 25 minutes he was even cool enough to phone me back. What a guy.

The first part of three hits Lightsabre today, so if you'd like an engrossing read of what Rick thinks about so many of these things visit Lightsabre and check it out, then make a date for 4 weeks time for the second part.

Yep, Basil Exposition - Logan! - is Ricks stepdad. I had no idea until I researched it, so it was a fun question to ask, thanks.

Woah. I remember when you guys used to get big-hitters like Oboe-wan and Stooge for interviews. Don't worry, I'm sure things will turn around for you soon. :)

How lucky are you!! Great interview, but I want more (even though I know I shouldn't).:D
I guess that I'll have to wait the four weeks. Don't forget to give us a reminder when it's up and ready to go.:)

He will, (though you should have heard him when he realised he'd got the interview - it was Rick this and Rick that... Forget energy drinks - his enthusiasm would have overloaded the national grid!)

However, the guy really is as nice as Mark says and I get the feeling that he is genuinely interested in the "Fan" scene... which I am sure will bear fruit when we get to Celebration Europe.

;)

Oh, and you have no idea how long it has taken Mark to transcribe it word for word - we are talking weeks!

The guy should be given a medal...

(have I bigged you up enough yet mate?)

I feel plenty bigged up bro, cheers! I was especially happy when we got the site hits back for the week, a new record for us over here.
Yeah, it's taken a while to transcribe but it's undeniably cool to hear me talking to Rick.
Oh, great news that Rick is going to be a guest at CE. I had the exclusive on that back in March when we talked, but I kept it under wraps. We offered to buy him a pint and he said yes - we'll see!!
