I already blogged about how ILM won their first Oscar for Visual Effects in 13 years (for their work on Pirates of the Caribbean 2), but the fun wasn't over yet for Star Wars fans.

George Lucas got onstage with his buddies Steven Spielberg and Francis Ford Coppola to present a historic award: Martin Scorsese, after losing out for Best Director five different times, finally won it. Lucas, Spielberg, and Coppola all did a great job of presenting.

Other Star Wars-related trivia from the show:

- I spied Carrie Fisher as one of the writers in the credits!

- Jerry Hey, the guy who composed "Jedi Rocks" for the Return of the Jedi SE, also flashed by during the credits.

- One of the themes this year was great movie quotes, and Star Wars got in there with "The Force is strong with this one." See it here:
