Star Wars: Episode III-Revenge of the Sith drew an estimated $16.5 million from midnight showings alone on its opening day, according to 20th Century Fox. The early figure stands as the biggest midnight launch on record.

According to this report, AOTC earned $6.4 million during its midnight opening. Previous best appears to have been Return of the King with $8 million.
