Box-office update: Biggest Non-Holiday Monday
After setting one-day, two-day, three-day and four-day records, Sith continued with a very strong Monday, to the tune of $14.3 million according to Box Office Mojo.

Click here for a full chart of top Mondays.

Spidy 2's July 5 was a holiday Monday, as were Shrek 2 and Lost World's Memorial Day Mondays. I didn't go back to the calendar to confirm Bruce Almighty, Day After Tomorrow and Pearl Harbor... but those dates sure look like Memorial Day to me. (Someone email me if I'm wrong.)

So, I'm declaring Episode III - "Biggest Non-Holiday Monday". (Never-you-mind that it was Victoria Day in Canada.)

Phantom Menace at #7 is interesting. May 31, 1999 was Memorial Day weekend, but interestingly that was TPM's second Monday. TPM's first Monday (May 24) is on the top-Monday list at #21.

Attack of the Clones also fared significantly better on its second Monday (May 27 #15) than its first (May 20 #22). I'm curious to see if history repeats itself with Episode III.

I haven't seen any best five-day charts yet... perhaps I'll do some digging to see what's up on that front.
