George Manipulates the Voices in my Head
The script for the first few months of the new webstrip "Evasive Action: Recruitment" has been approved by the Lucas publishing group. Tom Hodges will now begin his art and the series will launch some time this summer. (Stay tuned!)

If you've checked out the promo art for the series, you'll know that Darth Vader is in the story.

If you're like me, when you read Star Wars literature, you probably hear the voice of the actor speaking the dialog in your head. For example, well-written Han Solo dialog plays as if Harrison Ford is speaking it.

The same is true, for me, when writing. While I was able to write a little for Anakin in "Reversal of Fortune", I've never officially written for the Darth Vader character before.

What took me by great surprise was that my brain kept unconsciously alternating between James Earl Jones and Hayden Christensen as I would "audition" and craft the lines in my head.

I found this phenomenon fascinating. Through the prequels, George Lucas has completely manipulated my 28-year-old familiarity with Darth Vader.

Well done.
