 | I'm so Happy my Favorite Shows are Over |
Having favorite TV shows is a big commitment, even with a TiVo to save you the hassle of having to watch at the network-appointed timeslot.
(Watching "live" is for suckers anyhow... you maximize shows/hour by blipping through the ads. One hour = 40 minutes... wish I could do that with some meetings I have. Wait, maybe Adam Sandler could make a movie about that...)
With the finale of LOST on Wednesday, it was like a great weight has was lifted from my shoulders, one that had been bothering me for weeks. If I wanted to avoid spoilers from the daily media I'm exposed to (news, radio, other TV, websites, co-workers and friends -- yes, friends are media) then I have to at least watch on the same night the show aired. I hate TV spoilers, so there I would be at 1:30 a.m. forcing myself to keep my eyes open for another hour in Jack Bauer's life.
I just need to shake the shackles of my entertainment commitments for a few months.
Of course, as long as the Edmonton Oilers are alive in their pursuit of the Stanley Cup then I can't stray too far. But winning is a rare and different joy. Plus, I can't bring myself to watch time-shifted sports, so if I'm not at home things just move on without me.
Two more Sopranos and I'm home free!
