 | The Impact of Episode I |
For many, The Phantom Menace was a let down, but for me, it started a new found interest. I watched the original movies as a wee kid, I loved them, but they never had the ability to ignite my interest to the degree it is now.
The Phantom Menace came for me, at the right time, and was the right movie. I was only 14 years old when it came out, and I didn't go to this website, or much else, just saw a couple of trailers once or twice. I was pretty much unspoiled except for a loud mouth at school refering to "who dies".
The Phantom Menace drew in my imagination, it got me hooked and waiting in anticipation for what was to come. If anyone thought it was a bad movie, I beg to differ. It was fine, and even though Jar Jar may have been juvinille, it didn't bother me.
I remember when I my sister bought me a Qui-Gonn Lightsaber before the movie came out. I thought it was the coolest thing. All my friends got them too, and we would duel time to time.
Had the Phantom Menace not come out when it did, like it did, I may not be that big a fan of star wars, just a casual person who liked the movies. Episode I sparked my imagination, and only opened my curiosity in this interesting saga.
