Introduction
I suppose the first blog is always the hardest to write. So, I'm going to take the easy route and give a brief introduction of myself.

My screename is Graham 76, but my friends here at SW.com call me G76, and since we are all friends here, you can call me that.
I was born the year before ANH was released, and in the first few years of my life, I was aware of this phenomenon called "Star Wars", but was too young to really appreciate it. My first introduction to that galaxy far, far away came in mid 1980 when my teenage big cousin told me that she and her brother were going to see some movie called The Empire Strikes Back. Being only 4 at the time, my first question was "Is it a horror?"! I think I was probably influenced by pictures of some guy dressed in black wearing the most frightening mask I had ever seen in my young life.

Anyway, my cousins went to see it, and of course loved it. A few weeks later, the local cinema was showing back to back screenings of Star Wars and Empire, and my cousins took me to see them. As I sat there in the darkened cinema (looking rather like that fellow in the picture above), I was blown away by it all. My life would be transformed forever. Since that Summer's day in 1980, SW has been a major influence in my life. Not a single day goes by where there isn't something that I read, watch, or do that isn't SW related. To use Anakin's phrase - It is "in my very soul". Heck, even my 2 kids have SW related names!

Now that the saga is complete, I'm saddend that my own children will never experience the awe I did at seeing a new SW flick for the first time. But I can look forward to the 30th Anniversary celebrations next year, and SW back on the big screen with my son at my side.

So, that's about all there is at the moment. With nearly 30 years of SW experience behind me, I hope you'll enjoy the ramblings in my blogs, which I hope you will find informative, funny and just plain fun to read.

I'm G76 - and I'm very pleased to meet you.

Nice to have you with us, G76. Please visit my blogs. I will "watch your progress with great interest", or whatever Palpatine said to Anakin.

Welcome to the blogs! I'm fairly new myself, and I agree, I kept wondering when I first input my free 15 day trial of hyperspace, "what should my first entry be?"

Glad to have you here with us all!

Howdy, G76.

May I ask what your kids' names are?

Yes...welcome, I'm Darth Mordak. Ignore the "the Wise" and the "_'s". Just Darth Mordak. And if your kids have Star Wars names, is one named Anakin? Just kidding.

Hello Darths!
Well, after considering names such as Anakin, Ben, Luke, Han, Salacious Crumb, and so on for my son (the eldest) I came across Kyle Katarn in the Dark Forces game. I told Lady Vader (my fiancee) the name, and she liked it. I just left out the bit about where I got the name! She knows now, but she chased me around my hometown with a frying pan all week when I told her it was a SW name!:p But young Kyle thinks it's great he's named after a Jedi, and a couple of weeks ago, I managed to get hold of the Kyle Katarn action figure for him.

My daughter was a little easier. I've always liked the name Kiera since the actress Kiera Knightley came on the scene, and KK was the decoy queen in TPM. Lady Vader loved the name as soon as I told her, and didn't mind that it was SW related.

You just earned about 50 points in my book G (Numbers? Pfft, who needs 'em) :D

Nice that it's pretty much unidentifiable as a SW name to outsiders.. I suspect young Salacious would get beaten up :p

Well, I must say: Congrats on your childrens names. And what you called me: Darths, that is such a great nickname! I should get people to call me that! May I suggest that you support Boycotting the Oscars? I HATE THEM FOR WHAT THE ACADEMY DID!!!!

Hi and welcome G76...I know the feeling about writing the first blog. I'm trying to get the nerve up to do my first one too. Thing is, I keep jumping all over the place and can't decide on a topic....Should I be safe and pick a topic to avoid debating and yelling? Or should I go for it and shake some trees?
I think I shall name at least one of my offspring Sio Bibble, just for fun
Hey DV, I feel sorry for your future offspring...The teasing that child will get in school.

To use Anakin's phrase - It is "in my very soul".

aw G, youve just taken a line from one of the creepiest scenes in all the SW flicks... and made it okay. thanks. you will be a greater blogger than i could ever hope to be;)

sort of a cool thought - that you are as old as SW itself! even if you were born a year before the release, it was still just in production just as... well at the same time you were in production!:^O a true Child of Star Wars you are! (wink wink nudge nudge)

I think I shall name at least one of my offspring Sio Bibble, just for fun.

i wish you luck with that DV:)

Welcome G76! SOunds like you will make a good contribution to the blogging!

P.S. I'm changing my name from my dad's side ot my mom's maiden name and I am thinking of changing my middle name to Kenobi!

I'm definetley going to name atleast one of my younglings a SW name... Atleast one because it will likely take much compromise!

For boys, there's Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ben, Mace, Yoda, Ki-Adi (hehe), Luke, Jango etc.

For girls there's Padame, Leia, Aayla, Yaddle (yeah right) Adi etc.

Hey G! Nice to mee you ;) Can I buy you a drink sometime? :D

I think you heard my baby name story: we had agreed, long before the PT, that we would name a boy Anakin, but after the PT came out, it was too obvious. We had an ultrasound which told us we were having a girl, so we settled on Leia for a while, that was until the little padawan shot out and transformed into a boy!!! LOL!! he does not have a SW related name, though I know there is a bith that shares my last name! :D

G76, nice to meet you.
and SW back on the big screen with my son at my side. My daughter is almost 5 (no, her name is not SW-related ;)), and I've shown her bits and pieces from the SW saga. The best ones were in AOTC, when Yoda was fighting Dooku, she jumped up and down shouting "Go Yoda!", and when we were watching ANH, during the beginning battle with the Stormtroopers boarding Leia's ship, she screamed, "Shoot them in the face!" (I'm not sure if I should be repeating that one; my daughter is really sweet and non-violent! :8} )

That's the great thing about the saga, that it can be shared with our "younglings", and hopefully they'll share it with their younglings, and so on.

We had an ultrasound which told us we were having a girl Oboe-Wan, don't you love the accuracy of those ultra-sounds?! When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had 2 ultrasounds during which the technican said the same thing: "We're 80% sure that it's a girl". ?:|

Well it's about darned time, G!!! Excellent blog entry! I think we should all HAVE to write an introductory blog the first time!

drat it g. now i really am going to have to write a blog.

YES, mirax...DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!!!

I think I mentioned this before (to some of you!) but I desperately wanted my first son to be Luke...from the time I first saw SW...but then my evil sister-in-law, aka Darth Wench (not to be confused with Oboe-Wan), named HER son Luke...and well, I wasn't going to make the only two boys on my husband's side of the family have to same name. I was LIVID...livid enough to turn into Darth Maul, methinks!
