A POOLSIDE JEDI or LIVING IN THE MOMENT
The other day I had five good minutes.

Grampy-Wan decided to clean the pool, and this requires my assistance... my special contribution being my ability to get down on the concrete and finagle the vacuum hose around until it's plugged in tight and all the air is gone without losing suction... after this feat, I sat and watched...

And while sitting in the sun in my yellow pajamas and sun glasses, my back to the brick wall, I saw things. I heard things. I noticed things.

And for five minutes I was a good Jedi, focused on the here and now. I let the Force flow through me and heighten my awareness of the ordinary. No thoughts back to the regrets of the past, no worries about the future... Just a few moments in the sun.

Obi-Wan Katnobi walked across my lap with a meow and took his place on the corner of the fence overlooking his kingdom. A bird flew by and I didn't worry about him catching it and dragging it into the house...

The wind rustled the trees, and I noticed my neighbor's tree has leafed out, and I didn't think about the shade trees I used to have in my yard that I killed...

Some freshly cut grass floated on top of the water and I didn't think about how they might clog up the filter... I just watched the sun shine on the little, tiny waves... and listened to the birds chirp and the wind moving the trees...

My other neighbor has a TV antenna, and I wonder if back in the 60s, when the neighborhood was new, if every house had a TV antenna on top it... I see the turbo-vents whirling on the roof on every house around... Air conditioners turning on and off...

And the sparkly clear water looked so soothing, reminding me of how much I love the water, and then I realized how I'm stuck here for another stinkin' summer!!!!!!

So, the moment was over... I was back to my fretting and worrying and complaining.

But it made me stop and think how Star Wars has affected my interpretation of things. Now when I wonder, I wonder about the GFFA.

Do they have pool-cleaning droids? That's not all that far out there, what with the automatic, built in pool cleaners that new pools have these days...

But do cats chase birds in the backyards of Bakura? Do palm trees rustle in the breeze on Dantooine? Does cut grass skitter across the clear water of the Silver Sea? Did an idiot with a salt-water fish tank kill all the trees on Coruscant? Oh wait, that was me...

Do Jedi ever stop and sit with their feet in the water?

So now instead of fretting, I'm going to dream about barefoot Jedi on the shores of distant lakes, and Force sensitive cats, and flying cars... that don't need gas...

And may the Force be with us all... B-)

Do they have pool-cleaning droids?

Indeed they do. I specifically saw one in the Knights of the Old Republic game.

Did an idiot with a salt-water fish tank kill all the trees on Coruscant? Oh wait, that was me...

:^O :^O :^O

great blog granny.

I suppose even the Jedi had to, every once in awhile, stop and smell the Felucia bushes...:)

Great blog!

Do Jedi ever stop and sit with their feet in the water?

I would think so - maybe they just meditate though ;)

I'm so glad you had a "Jedi moment" of your own. Just a few minutes to stop, enjoy the beauty around you, clear your mind, let peace flow through you...

Yep, I bet Jedi did sit with their feet in the water!

Thanks for sharing your special moment with us. :x

Good meditation there, oh powerful one :)

I always take the time, every day, for at least ten minutes of just looking out of the window, observing the small things going on - other life forms going about their daily business.

As I like to say, don't just look at the tree, but look at each of its leaves - the sum makes the whole.

I think you nailed this post - this is my favorite blog in a long time :)

I saw things. I heard things.

Uh oh. How long were you out in the sun?

stop and smell the Felucia bushes...

I would think that to be dangerous, what with the creepy plants and deadly fungal spores and all...

I've GOT to play that... :D

stop and smell the Felucia bushes...

Take anti-histamines first...unless you have the Force...of course...

maybe they just meditate though

I usually brood... B-)

Yep, I bet Jedi did sit with their feet in the water!

Since they had a room with 1000 fountains in it, the temptation would irresistible...

As I like to say, don't just look at the tree, but look at each of its leaves - the sum makes the whole.

Oh, I love that.... awesome observation...

Uh oh. How long were you out in the sun?

Long enough, evidentially....B-)

Did you see a duck in the pool? :^O

Did an idiot with a salt-water fish tank kill all the trees on Coruscant? Oh wait, that was me...

I wondered who the jerk was that killed all the trees...:^O

Thanks for bringing me back to ground...You know I needed it. ;)

Yes ... Aakin chased after a senator's skirt and it got him into trouble lolz.

I'll trade backyards with you too ... mine is full of ice storm damage i am waiting for the soggy ground to dry up enough to clean up all the broken tree limbs all over the place.

A pool would be much betterererer.

What's a duck?

Thanks for bringing me back to ground...

I wrote it last night, how did I know you needed it today? Hmmmm.... strong are you with the Force...

I wondered who the jerk was that killed all the trees..

It was only 200 gallons of salt water....

It's not much, but it's something! An oasis, perhaps... a green and blue spot on Tatooine...

Ice? Ice belongs in a drink!

I think I'll go over to the pool.

Wow, your back yard sounds like heaven.........I got weeds and dog poop.

Next time I'm out I'm going to really LOOK at my surroundings, not just exist in them.

You have inspired me, Granny! :x

Sometimes, you just have to snatch the few minutes here, a few there, whenever you can. Just to be. :) What a wonderful 5 minutes it was, g-w. :)

Now back to our regularly-scheduled programming. :|

One last question: is there an x-wing stuck in the depths of your pool?

:^O poor Luke. Sometimes he doesn't get any respect. ;)

Great blog, g-w. I love how you let yourself just be. We all should do that more often. :)

Wonderful blog g-w. I too like to sit and enjoy and observe things when I have some spare moments. There's nothing like paying attention to the things that you normally tune out on a daily basis. Makes me think of how much we can really miss in a day.

I got weeds and dog poop.

Had that until l decided to sell the house, then I had to pay some guys to fix it up... Also, that's why I don't have a dog... just a cat who sees the alley as his personal kingdom....and sand box...

One last question: is there an x-wing stuck in the depths of your pool?

Not currently, but once I found Darth Maul down near the drain...

I need to do it more often... with the heat wave, I'll be going out there after dark now... too bad there's no stars...

Makes me think of how much we can really miss in a day.

A lot, especially since I tend not to leave the house very often.... a lesson to be learned from this, perhaps...

Loved it! To me it was like poetry...pure, from the heart and it *spoke* :)

Do they have pool-cleaning droids? Probably - ya know, it's funny...with all that technology in the GFFA you'd have thought that Padme could've had an ultrasound... :p

Glad you were able to have those precious "clarity" moments - I know when I have them, they seem to make the world just a bit better.... :)

That really was nice :) It was simple, yet it spoke volumes.

I just love it when I have those moments where I just sit there and enjoy the beauty of my surroundings. I really should do that more often...maybe I will this morning before I head off to sleep ;)

Yes, CLARITY.. that's what it is! It doesn't come to me very often! :^O

Those moments just before sleep can be precious, too!

mmmmmmm. . .I haven't had one of those Jedi Moments in a long time. Thanks for the great reminder. It is actually a very difficult task -- to be solely and completely in the here-and-now. A true Master you are becoming!

. . .wait! I think I feel that summer breeze coming my way. . .
