Hello everybody in Blogland, and Merry Christmas! I might of missed out on most of BFD, but I'm here now with an entry only a few days late! I originally posted this poem last year on The Stooge's blog, since I didn't have a blog of my own back then. I'm sure he regretted encouraging me to do that, as it took up a massive chunk of his comment space. Sorry about that, Stooge! But anyways, for those of you who haven't seen it before (and for those of you who are dying to see it again, which I'm sure you are), it's now here on my blog for all to view. Enjoy!
A Corellian Christmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through ship,
Not a creature was stirring, they all were asleep.
The stockings hung by the Hyperdrive with care,
In hopes that St. Nick would soon be there.
But suddenly Chewie was wide awake!
He heard a noise that only one thing could make.
He jumped out of bed and raced out of the room,
Attempting to keep down his Wookiee volume.
He peered into the room that held the Hyperdrive,
And could hardly contain his delight for who had arrived.
He looked over at the plate of cookies to find,
Someone saying "How you get so big, eating food of this kind?"
It was Santa Yoda, dressed all in red!
He had arrived in his little space sled.
Chewie waved his arms and growled in glee,
And Yoda waved back, being cheery.
"Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas to you!"
Said Yoda with a mouthful of cookies to chew.
"Presents I have, but soon must I go,
Delivering gifts to worlds under snow."
But before Yoda could leave, in burst Han!
He was rubbing sleep from his eyes and stifling a yawn.
He awoke from his bunk and couldn't find Chewie,
And remembered the cookies that were nice, warm and gooey.
"Get away, thief, those cookies aren't for you!"
Han shouted blindly at he didn't know who.
But after a moment he adjusted his vision,
And realized his shouting was a bad decision.
Santa Yoda frowned, and looked right at Solo.
He didn't seem happy with the way Han just bellowed.
"Many nice gifts I have for Chewbacca,
But bad you have been, so you get nadda."
"Whattaya mean!?" shouted Han in dismay.
"You must have some gifts for me in your sleigh."
But Yoda was firm that Han deserved none.
He began listing the reasons one by one.
"Fried poor Greedo, you did, only for money you thirst."
"But you gotta admit that I did fire first!"
"A debt you owe, paying it back you are not."
"I'm trying to hurry, I don't want to get shot."
"Cheated in sabaac I believe you did."
"No I didn't, not one card have I hid."
"Rude to C-3PO you are, are you not?"
"Well, can you blame me? The droid talks a lot!"
Yoda's reasons went on, and always Han had an excuse,
Chewie tired of it, and cried out for a truce.
He then started listing the reasons to why,
Han deserved lots of gifts, and that he's a great guy.
Han helped blow up the Death Star, and rescued a princess,
And he did pay in cash for the entire Greedo mess.
He helped take down Jabba to make sure he wasn't the winner,
And forgave the Ewoks for trying to eat him for dinner.
Han deactivated the shield on Endor,
A brave, daring feat that you can not ignore.
He has come through for Chewie time and time again,
Even if he occasionally does yell at him.
With these good deeds put into Yoda's mind,
He seemed to soften with Han's virtues defined.
"Forgotten I have of the good things you have done,
Suppose I do that you can have some."
With that Santa Yoda reached into his sack,
And pulled out some gifts so as to pay Solo back,
For all the unfair things Yoda had said,
And started to head back to his little sled.
"Wait!" cried out Han as Yoda began to go.
"May the Force be with you... and watch out for that snow."
Yoda waved goodbye and jettisoned his escape pod,
Leaving the two smugglers somewhat awed.
They stood silent for a while, amazed at what they had seen.
A little Jedi Santa Clause, the color of green.
Chewbacca mentioned that he was sad to see him go.
Han replied with his ever-famous line: "I know."
I hope you enjoyed it, and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
