Galaxy Origin Theory
Various questions of the Star Wars universe have baffled fanatics, free-time historians, junkies, nerds, and other what not names for Star Wars fans.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two of the biggest questions of the this cultural phenomeon are:

1. Where is the Star Wars galaxy?

2. Where did humans in the Star Wars galaxy come from, since the introduction phrase says "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."?

A theory I have developed and fine tuned over a two week vacation has fit nicely, so far... I have titled this theory as the Galaxy Origin Theory. Many may find my theory a "party-pooper" for the galaxy's origin mystery but if you continue to read you may find my theory interesting.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Two things must be made aware here in my theory:

- In my theory the intro phrase we see at the beginning of every Star Wars saga film "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..." is contradictory in my theory. This at first may appear to be a flaw, but in fact is a not. I believe that this phrase was used to "spice things up" for the movies. My theory could be in fact be a concept that George Lucas knew from the beginning and simply hid to be regconized by those who were interested enough to find out the true origins of the galaxy he created, an "easter egg" or "hidden quirk" if you will. In my theory one could say the intro phrase all Star Wars fans are familiar with would be altered to in almost exact opposite fashion; "Far in the future, in this galaxy..." or "A long time later, in a galaxy not far, far away...".

- Duros are in fact the aliens we see all over pop-culture and the tabloid shelf at check-out stands. If you compare this image (of a "close encounter" with an "alien") and this image (of the Star Wars fictional alien species the Duro) they are closely the same. Various sources suggest that Duros were one of the very first space travel species, this might suggest even before humans... You can find more about Duros here: Star Wars Databank Entry: Duros

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally this comes to my theory.

VVV MY THEORY VVV

The Star Wars galaxy is in fact not far away, it is our galaxy. The galaxy we live in; the Milky Way. And the Star War stories we are most familiar with in fact happen in our future, as in the future from this point.

For many years the Duros have been watching us carefully and "researching" us, as if treating us as a lesser people. The Duros have already achieved faster than light space travel and have carved out many hyperspaces routes, and are the "superior" species in this galaxy. By this time Earth has joined together as one nation and it's selected language is English. Which is then called "Basic", and the other languages of the world are for "tradtional" use mainly.

Later on, Earth has a massive civil war. The Duros, fearing our loss, take as many humans as they can collect that are not war-driven and move us off Earth before it is literally destroyed by war (mostly likely because of mass destructive weapons). The humans later blend in with the rest of the galactic species, most humans colonize planets such as Alderaan and Corellia. Humans become as technologically advanced as the Duros, along with other quickly growing sentient species. Basic spreads quickly and with great popularity among other alien species. Over time Earth is forgotten of entirely, except what survived in it's language, Basic (excluding proper nouns).

* Eventually many of the galaxy's sentient species come together to form the Galatic Republic, and later the Jedi Order.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(* This is not part of my theory but is accepted by it. And are approved Star Wars lore facts.)

(I will keep on fine-tuning this theory over time and correcting typos and grammical errors, comments for helping me correct such errors are appreciated.)

Hi lil' brother!

This is truly an excellent entry! I like the 2 opening questions...they are really food for thought! And I agree with your points on the SW Universe seeming more like a futuristic-type thing...I've always thought of it that way as well. Thank you, also, for linking the Duros...they do look like the "traditional" kind of space alien we've grown accustomed to seeing. You're a very deep person, and I wish I could offer you a real addition to your theory, but I'm not as profound as you are when it comes to these things, LOL!:^O However, I do feel really privileged to read your work!:D

Very truly yours,
-jeditee:)

Very interesting! I can't wait to read more. Your theory would help explain Han Solo's, "What on earth?" quote in the EU. Sorry, I can't remember which book it was.

That's a great theory! I always thought the "A long time ago in a galaxy far away..." should really be in the future in this galaxt.
