You know I was feeling a little down because a damper had gotten put on my family's plans for the 4th when it began thunderstorming here in Houston. Our fireworks in the city have been cancelled officially (at this point) for tonight.

Then it dawned on me that the Shuttle Discovery was about to launch! I turned on the TV to Fox News about 30 minutes before launch time and everything was a go for launch. How exciting!

On this Independence Day, you realize that if we didn't live in this great country with the freedom's we enjoy, we wouldn't be able to see such amazing things such as the launch of a space shuttle.

I am so thankful everyday that I live in this country. I don't need the 4th of July to remind me that I live in a wonderful country with wonderful freedoms and that I have fantastic soldiers fighting for those freedoms, but I love this day anyway.

What an exciting shuttle launch and what a treat for the 4th from NASA!!!
