 | Heeeeere's Hansgirl! |
Well, I guess I'm next in line in the LILWA to let you know the real me!
I already answered in a previous blog why my blog name is "Invoking the Squee"! It amazed me how many people were interested in finding that out, since VA2 had asked!! How funny!
I was born in 1968, so I was 9 when A New Hope first came out. My Dad took me originally and I fell in love with the movie immediately (and with Han Solo)!! That was it for me! Everything from that moment on was Star Wars! My parents knew they had a sci-fi geek on their hands and they fed right into it. (I think they knew I'd be safer if they did- they were right!) So, they started buying me anything Star Wars related that hit the stores (starting my collecting habit) and that was "all she wrote"! I went to sci-fi conventions and everything - it was really cool! I loved my childhood!
Anyway, I grew up in Bryan/College Station, Texas and went to Texas A&M University. Whoop! We had the best sci-fi convention there, AggieCon (still do, actually) - I still go every few years. To cut the story short, I met my now ex-husband there and moved to Houston. We divorced after almost 11 years (no kids - thank goodness).
Good thing about moving to Houston was that I got into the banking industry, which I've been working in now for 17 years and I love it! I'm now a bank trainer (for 11 of the 17) and am as happy as can be in my chosen career.
I am now married to a wonderful man (my own Han Solo)! We'll be married for 2 years next month! We have 3 kids (actually his from 2 previous marriages), but they're just as much mine as if I'd had them myself. I've managed to turn them into SW nuts! Yea!! They are 14, 11 and 5 and the 5 year old lives with us as her mother died a year and a half ago. Don't worry, things work out for the best sometimes. My padawan is better off with us. It's taken me the year and a half to un-do all the damage that had been done to this little angel. (She wasn't an angel when we got her, but she is now ).
Now, my Han Solo is a licensed Peace Officer, reserve State Guardsman (Army), security officer and tattoo artist (appointment only). Yes, he stays busy! We love being together, have many interests alike, not the least of which is SW and playing with my SW toys! We also share a love of all things celtic, which is what brought us together in the first place. We shared the same circle of friends and both worked in the Texas Renaissance Festival and other celtic events.
Well, that's me in a nutshell! Help! Get me out of this nutshell!!
Anyway, I truly enjoy all the LILWA blogs and enjoy our chats here! We have such a neat group of friends here!!! Love to you all!!!

Hurray for Hansgirl! I have yet to go to a convention, but I think I must start soon. You make them sound like so much fun! Most of my Sci-Fi interest has been SW, but I have been wondering what else is out there that's good. Any books you'd recommend it sounds like you might know!

" SQUEEEEEEEEE ME !!! " I AM SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!! YOU DID IT , YOU DID IT....
Ok, not actually *IT* But you revealed the SQUEEE YOU!!! Hi Babe, So tatoo's and Celtic stuff huh? Is there anything else I should know about you?
APPOINTMENT ONLY?....
I'll take 1! I have only 1 and I would like it *refreshed* ( needs color ) and I've been thinking of doing another. Of course I don't think flying from NY to Houston for a tatoo appointment would be realistic now would it?
GOD BLESS YOU, YOU ARE AN ANGEL....
Taking care of those little ones ( OK some are teenagers ) makes you *HEAVEN SENT* my friend, I give you loads of credit. Hugs and kisses to the little Texas Angel....

Very cool - it's nice to know who we are wheeling and dealing with.
You've inspired me to put finger to key and write my own mini-bio!
I'm now a bank trainer (for 11 of the 17) and am as happy as can be in my chosen career.
And that's half the battle!
I'm happy you have a great life - more power to your hyperdrive!

These are fun! Are you up soon, Ami?
Thanks, JediLily! *smack*
Hey, AS1, I've got LOTS of books I could recommend! Oh, but where to start... (besides SW, of course) I love Anne Rice novels (everything she's written). I really love fantasy series, personally -the original Dragonlance Chronicles - Weis/Hickman, DeChancie's Castle Perilous series (so funny), Robert Aspirin's Myth series (hilarious), there are so many, I could go on and on...

"HOLY GLOW WORMS" & "LIGHT SABERS" How's that working for ya? Does he ever let *YOU* drive the *FALCON*? I'm sorry Babe, I couldn't resist.
This has been fun, I'm glad you came out of your nutshell and shared the some *peanuts* with all of us........... your LILWA sista! ANGEL

more power to your hyperdrive!
Hey, I think Hansgirl (and the rest of the gals in the LILWA for that matter) have plenty of power to their hyperdrives...that's the last place they need more power! Hehehe!
my Han Solo is a licensed Peace Officer
Well, that's good to hear. I mean, I'd be a little concerned if he were an unlicensed peace officer... Is there such a thing?

Hey, Vicomte, what kind of deal are you willing to offer - it's getting kind of stuffy in this nutshell...
Oh my, I don't like violence.
Don't worry, jedivnsnator, V wouldn't hurt me. He wouldn't hurt a firefly...
I'll take 1! I have only 1 and I would like it *refreshed* ( needs color ) and I've been thinking of doing another.
Cool, Angel! Come on down! NY's not THAT far. Ha ha!
I've got 3, although you can only see one in the dark ('cause it's invisible!) That's right! It's glows in the dark - my hubby invented the ink so it glows in the dark and under blacklight only. It's really spiffy!

I've got 3,
That's three more than I have, I think it may be cool someday. Though my mother would probably go into cardiac arrest if I ever decided to get one.

Wow! Seriously, think about how much he could patent and sell that for...tatoo parlors across the globe would want that stuff! Really, no more covering up tatoos at work...no more hiding your lower back from your folks...no more having to explain what your tatoo is to people you don't want to know...
Really though, he should think about marketing that. That's a pretty awesome invention.
Don't worry, jedivnsnator, V wouldn't hurt me. He wouldn't hurt a firefly...
He has a nutcracker. Nut cracker. He cracks nuts. You're not the one I'm worried about here...

Ah, time to barter... I choose the tat and the location...
Seriously, think about how much he could patent and sell that for...
Actually, he does own the patent and when he owned his tattoo parlor here, he did a great business in it! The problem with that ink is that it's different than regular ink and is harder to work with. Not all artists want to deal with it as a result.
Anakin's unmetionables *IT* Glowed in the DARK!!!
Oooooh, you bad, girl!

I would never betray you.... really...
I've got a tat too

Love the fact that you have blessed those kids lives with your presence and with SW, especially the little one. Being there for a kid in need is the best thing any of us can do.
May the force be with you always!
PS: Okay, now it's my turn I guess to reveal all, well not all, you perves!

it's just hard without the license.
I believe 'peace officer without a license' is an oxymoron, seeing as if you're a peace officer with no license then technically you're a vigilante...
Are you a vigilante, DV? Answer honestly...what's your secret identity?

I've been turned to the Tat side of the Force by Hansgirl....She gonna lead the way for me to get two tats:
(1) Jedi "Legacy" symbol with Jedi spelled underneath on right shoulder
(2) "Serenity" will be spelled out on the small of my back.
Target date: October this year. Can't wait.
