So, today is my birthday!! Yea!!! I LOVE birthday's!! I think they're fantastic!! And why not? You get to have fun, get presents, get well wishes from everyone, eat cake and ice cream; it's your day!!!!! What's not to love? I'll never understand why some people don't love having birthday's.
They say it's because they don't want to get older. Some people even "decide" to stop getting older at a certain age, etc. I don't; I think that's silly, personally. I know I'm going to get older; I don't have a choice. My hair is going to turn gray; if I'm LUCKY, it will turn a very beautiful gray like my grandmother's, since I have the same red hair as her to begin with (we'll see; only time will tell). My skin will become wrinkled. I can care for it by staying out of the sun and applying lotions, but that will not prevent the inevitable wrinkling from taking over eventually. The aches and pains which have already begun will become worse and who knows what afflictions will set in as I get older. There is no stopping the aging of my physical body! I don't care what plastic surgery is out there and these stupid botox injections they have (and, no, I'm NOT going to inject toxins into MY body), you can't STOP the aging process, you can only slow it down. Therefore, I'm just going to let it run it's course, but help the aches and pains by trying to stay fit and healthy.
Here's what I am going to do and always have...the Almighty (whoever and whatever you believe He is; this is not a religious or philisophical discussion) does state that we MUST grow older as evidenced by the FACT that our bodies get old, but NO ONE in this universe has ever said that we have to grow UP!! Now, I admit that we have certain responsibilities that must be handled (ie: pay bills, have a job, raise kids if you so choose, etc), but that does not mean that you must give up your love of "kid movies/TV shows", toys, games or whatever else tickles your fancy. Who says you do? And even IF they do, who says you have to do what they tell you? We all have the right to love what we choose, don't we?
So, here's my point. Today is my birthday. I have my family trained perfectly for my tastes. My family knows well not to get me things like vacuum cleaners (that's for you, Angel!

), pots and pans (unless they are a "gadget", I like "gadgets") or any other mundane "necessity" for birthday's and Christmas! They know to get me "fun stuff"!! In other words, TOYS!!
So, here's what I got this year!!!

My husband got me the Code 3
Millennium Falcon that I
blogged about when it arrived!

My parents got me 6 new Barbie dolls for my collection, including the new
Superman Ken and Lois Lane Barbie!

They also gave me some
older Star Wars toys that my Dad had been hanging onto for me for awhile (he likes to do that!!), as well as some other non-SW stuff!

And my wonderful Dad had built me some ceiling to floor shelves that he brought down and put up with my husband for me so I could finally put some of my
books (especially SW books) out on shelves (they've been living in boxes for the longest!!). Woo-hoo! AND, this allowed me to finally find and put out my
autographed Harrison Ford pictures!!!!
I also received various and sundry other toys and such!

On the other "hand" (thanks, Mina, for coming up with that!), I also received and adult "toy" from my husband in the form of a beautiful
opal and diamond ring, that is just to die for!!!

That definitely falls in the "good presents" category!!
To top it all off, my cake was a
Star Wars cake!!!! YeeeeHawwwww!! It had a Darth Vader topper that you can breath through and it makes the "breather" noise and an Anakin spinner! It's so spiffy!!!
I don't plan to ever grow up even though I'm getting older!! I'm turning 38 today...
So you see, growing UP is optional, just don't forget to grow older responsibly.
Have a wonderful day!

I am!!
