"But they're gonna execute her!" NOT!
She lied! She LIED to us! Grand Moff Tarkin ~ ANH

I told you she would never consciously betray the Rebellion. Darth Vader ~ ANH

Terminate her...immediately! Tarkin

Yesterday I was inspired to write this blog by a line in one of PS77's blog's. Thanks, PS77! She wrote, I also have a feeling that Leia exuded an aura of comfort around Vader...maybe that is why he could not allow her to be executed

Since Tarkin was so adamant about Leia being executed for her false information about the rebels being on Dantooine, it begs the question, why didn't Vader execute her as Tarkin requested?

I know later he said, "She may yet be of some use to us." However, Tarkin DID say, "Immediately!" That's pretty black and white. That doesn't mean if you feel like it, or in a couple of hours, or unless you think you can extract a little more information. That means do it right the heck NOW!

So, I wonder if PS77 might have been on to something yesterday. Could Vader have been feeling something in the Force concerning Leia and not recognizing it? Since she was his daughter, she may well have been oozing with the connectivity to him that he felt with Padme and he just didn't clue into it. Subconsciously, however, those old feelings might have been manifesting themselves and he may have acted on them unknowingly and not carried out Tarkin's command because of them.

On the other hand, it could have simply been that Vader decided that Leia may have had more information, had lied to them because he knew she wouldn't betray the Rebels and chose not to execute her at that time.

It's more fun to think that the Force and her being his daughter had something to do with it, though! :D

The other question I've always had (which is actually the topic for another blog) is why Vader would actually be "obeying" Tarkin to begin with, but anyway...

What are your thoughts concerning Vader's NOT terminating Leia?
