Bringing "Balance" To The Force!
Bringing "balance" to the Force. "Balance" to the Force? What does that REALLY mean?

The prophecy that was talked about in ROTS told of the Chosen One that was supposed to bring balance to the Force, but no one really knew what that meant. Even Mace admitted that prophecies could be misinterpreted.

This is a topic that I had intended to blog about for some time, but had never gotten around to for whatever reason. Today, however, VadersGirl wrote an entry that brought it back to the forefront of my mind. Thanks, VadersGirl!! :x Her entry explores the topic of good vs. evil and how there cannot be one without the other; a good point.

The reason I wanted to explore bringing balance to the Force is that I have thought about the prophecy and it's potential meaning for quite some time and fought with myself over it time and again. I can't really come to a conclusion over it. I think that's partially because my reasoning side and my emotional side don't want to give in to one another. ;)

In any case, my thoughts are these... assuming that Anakin was the Chosen One (I think most of us agree on that point), if he were to bring balance to the Force, wiping out evil can't be the way to do it!

Going back to VadersGirl's entry, there can't be good without evil; they counterbalance each other! Now we know that Darth Bane instigated the Rule of Two for the Sith (that there could only be two Sith Lords at any given time ~ a Master and an Apprentice). This would keep the Sith "in check", if you will. So, the Sith were already kept at bay by their own rules, thereby keeping the evil side down to a dull roar, "supposedly".

The Jedi, on the other hand, were going full force (pun intended :D ) and had hundreds running around fighting for good, justice, etc., etc., etc. What kind of balance is that?

THEN, if you add the Chosen One into the mix on the side of the Jedi, how would there be any balance at all?

I think things got bungled up in a way. It makes sense that Anakin turned. Not that I like it, mind you! It just makes sense. What occurred in the events in ROTS took the sheer numbers of the Jedi down to...

How many? TWO!!!

What do we have left? BALANCE!!!

Two Sith, two Jedi! Granted the two Jedi went into hiding, but that's not the point.

Ok, now you all know that I'm a LILWA girl! :x I go with the Anakin/Padme romance and all that, but that doesn't mean that I'm not also going to go for a reasonable explanation of events as I see them.

This one has been eating at me for some time.

What are your thoughts on this one guys? Give 'em to me! Please? :)
