My oldest daughter and I had been planning for three weeks to have a Star Wars marathon this past weekend!
We went to the store on Friday night to purchase all the junk food we would need (ie: donuts, Twinkies, candy, marshmallows, ice cream, macaroni and cheese...); you know, the important stuff!

Yes, we had some regular food so we wouldn't get
too sick...
Anyway, we planned to get up early on Saturday morning and begin the saga. We decided to start with Episode 1 and work our way through chronologically. Obviously, the other choice was to begin with Episode 4 and work through the way they were released, but we wanted to go from Anakin's childhood through his death this time.
Saturday morning came, I woke up and woke her up, got the donuts ready, put in TPM, got my youngest settled in so she'd be taken care of, sat down in our designated places, got comfortable and started the marathon! Off we went! We also each had a lightsaber to fend off any marathon violators... just in case!!!

(We both have purple Mace ones 'cuz that's our favorite color! *tee hee*)
There were a couple of minor interruptions as my youngest is only 5 and needed a couple of things (she likes the OT better, so she doesn't really sit down to watch the PT yet and interrupted for various needs here and there). No big deal during TPM. Next, we put in AOTC after a brief 10 minute "necessary" break and get some junk food. All was still going fairly well until a knock on the door... *sigh*
A visitor...
The visitor didn't get the hint when we said we were doing a marathon and she stayed for about 45 minutes. Darn it. She finally left and we were back on track!
OK! We picked up where we left off! AOTC was back on and we were going again with the usual 5 year old interruptions ~ still no big deal.
AOTC ended and it was lunch time! Fixed lunch for the 5 year old, got her settled. Fixed lunch for us; tortillas with cheese in the middle ~ Yummmm ~ with some mac and cheese ~ more Yummmm (we like cheese)!

No, that's not what I gave the 5 year old (sheesh!)!
Ok, we were settled again and we put in ROTS and got ready to eat and watch my third fave of the entire saga!

So far, things were going fairly smoothly!
After a little play time it was "quiet time" for the 5 year old. "Quiet time" is in bed with her own movie... Ah-ha, you say! YES! No interruptions!! Hee hee!!!
The rest of ROTS was in peace (mostly ~ another knock on the door, but the person left immediately). Time for ANH!! My favorite!!
This was where things began to crumble... My hubby had gone to work for most of the day and came home during ANH. Once he arrived home, he needed some help on the computer. Also, I had to start prepping dinner. All of this occurred during the end part of ANH. So, I missed the ending. That was ok! I looked over and saw the ending ceremony at least, which is one of my favorite scenes.
My daughter then put in TESB.
DISASTER! I didn't get to watch it
at all! About two-thirds through, she finally said, "I think I'll turn it off." I said, "Good idea." I was still helping hubby on the computer...
Finally, computer was done, dinner was done and we got back to the marathon! OH! And I set my hubby to deal with the 5 year old...
My daughter and I knew we wouldn't get through these last two movies. She thought we should start the whole marathon over the next day. I reminded her that there wouldn't be enough hours in the next day with it being a Sunday to do all 6 and get to bed in time to be rested to start a Monday with school and work, so that wasn't a viable plan. We would keep thinking...
We started TESB over again...
Finally, we got through TESB and on to ROTJ, but by this time it was already after midnight. I knew there was no way we'd make it through the last movie. Sure enough, we both fell asleep.
Next morning, we made a new plan. We decided to pick up where we left off. We would watch ROTJ and
THEN watch the Star Wars Holiday Special (YES, the old 1978 Holiday Special that GL won't release ~ I have a copy and my daughter hadn't seen it yet), and then we would play Star Wars Trivial Pursuit DVD game!! This sounded like a great new plan!! We were happy with it!
So we got the junk food back out and started again! No, we still weren't sick yet!
Sunday went much better! We got through the ROTJ, Holiday Special and Trivial Pursuit as planned and had a wonderful day!
Even though our Saturday marathon didn't go quite as we expected, the weekend went very well overall and we had a BLAST!!

What fun!!
Marathons are Crazy! You should plan one sometime!!!
