As I was writing a new parody song yesterday, some thoughts occured to me concerning Anakin's feelings throughout his formative years for Padme'.

I know that some of this has been discussed or touched on in various ways in various blogs, but I had a couple of ideas to jot down in this blog.

It seemed to me that when Anakin was 9 years old and he first met his angel, Padme', that he saw her in one particular way, truly as that "angel". She could do no wrong; she was sweet, kind, innocent, caring and sent to him to be a protector to him of sorts. Later, he found that she was also a Senator, but that didn't change those basic traits that he saw in her. He developed a deep-seeded crush.

Over the next 10 years, he allowed that crush to fester and develop into much more. I don't know how many more women he came into truly close contact with, but I would imagine none as close as Padme'. His feelings for her became more than a crush and developed into an obsession. He said himself in AOTC that he had thought about her everyday for those 10 years they were apart, which is somewhat abnormal by most people's standards.

Anakin saw Padme' as belonging to him and no other; she should be with him, she was his angel, his Senator, his future. He was passionate about her and it was all-consuming.

It makes me wonder "what if" she had found another during those 10 years and when they met again had another man in her life. What would Anakin have done? Would he have done something rash and irrational? How would he have behaved upon their meeting? It brings to mind some interesting questions.

I think he would have let his jealousy get the better of him. If Palps had been smart, he would have arranged for that to happen and he would have had his apprentice a whole lot sooner!!! AND he wouldn't have had Luke to save the galaxy in the end, but then that would not have worked for the saga, would it...
