 | Extreme Makeover: Star Wars bedroom! |
Inspired today by a blog by JadeSabre777, I remembered watching an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition last week similar to the one that Jade blogged about.
On the Extreme Makeover show, a family whose home had some air problems, coupled with four children with some disease that made the air quality crucial received a home makeover.
One of the kids was a Star Wars fan and so the show did his room in a Star Wars theme complete with an X-Wing bed! It was truly outstanding! I loved how they painted the wall to look like the trench of the Darth Ball... er... I mean Death Star (inside joke)!
Additionally, as they were dreaming up the concepts for the room, Lucasfilm allowed them to go to the archives and pick several items to put in the room including a life-size Yoda figure. Too cool!!
Then, on top of that, Chewbacca came to "help" with the construction of the room. They had the sound effects for his speech and everything. They truly did a fantastic job!
Hopefully, this link to the show's site will work properly, however if it doesn't the show was aired on 12/2/07 and the family being helped was the Stockdale family.

I couldn't find any more pics on the site. It looks like they skipped that week or something ...ah well. The pics you posted look super sweet!

Oh my goodness!
I don't usually watch the show ... I can't help but be jealous yet deliriously happy for these people. It reminds me that life really isn't as bad as it seems sometimes.
Anyway...
What a great blog. Thanks for sharing... I wouldn't have had any idea!
I LOVE the bedroom... can I get that mural of A/DV on my wall?

I thought the whole show was just great and I really loved how they focused so much attention on THAT room!

Me too, WoV, and then I feel a little bad about being jealous, but.... I want a room like that!
Comparing that to my mess of a SW room is just too sad.....
You and me both, Pug!
OYE! Think Santa could pull that one off?
That would be a toughie, Angel! Good luck!!

What an awesome room that youngster got!!! And just another example of how big the hearts of everyone connected with Star Wars are!!!
My youngest padawan now wants an x-wing fighter bed. It isn't enough that she is, literally, surrounded by Star Wars goodies.
Thanks for sharing, hg!
