 | It's all about BFD!! |
Ok, so this wasn't REALLY a BFD gift, but our dear Granny-Wan was absolutely wonderful and...
Ok, let me start a little earlier...
A long time ago...
in a state unfortunately a little too far away...
I corresponded with the darling Granny-Wan. She really wanted a pair of my painted shoes and had a pair she particularly wanted painted. She sent them to me and (too many months later...) I finished them!
In the meantime, JMM (Mina) was talked into completely "geeking out" and Granny-Wan was making her a Jedi costume, seen here in Mina's blog!
The plan is that we're all going to WonderCon in San Francisco in February and they were going to dress up. Feeling a little left out ( ), I mentioned to Mina that even though I've never been into the "costume thing", I didn't want to be left out. Well... turns out she and Granny-Wan had already discussed that a little and Granny was willing to make a costume for ME, too!!
I didn't want a Jedi costume, though. No siree!! I wanted to be Han's Girl , so I wanted a Princess Leia costume if it was possible!
It just so happened that Granny-Wan had a pattern for the New Hope costume (which incidentally is the same as the costume Leia wore at the end of TESB in the infirmary with Luke, so I can wear my hair either way. Woo-hoo! ) so she kindly made it for me!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Isn't Granny an amazing talent!!! Love you!
So, would this be the first BFD swap!!??!?? Tee hee!

Nope they are Hanes from Wal-Mart... I'm so cheap....
Ohhh... I thought you meant Boston Fire Department...
That's OK, most of us think it means something else.... hee hee
I'm blushing with all the praise.... the truth is, I like sewing costumes, and it's nice to do it on someone else's money... and this one even came in right around the amount I estimated! woo-hoo!
Grampy-Wan did the metal work on the belt... must give credit where it's due...

I don't know why, but that picture of you and R2 crack me up to now end. I guess it's the thought that you, like myself, finally broke down and crossed the geekdom line.

You truly aren't a full-fledged geek until you're on the local news while in costume (like I was for the Autism Walk back in September) Welcome to the world of costumes
the truth is, I like sewing costumes, and it's nice to do it on someone else's money...
I'm too afraid to do this because I might mess up...and it's someone else's dime. My real test will be this X-Wing jumpsuit and Flak vest I'm working on for a fellow RL member this winter

Yep, that must be it, Mina! Course it couldn't have anything to do with the R2 being so little...
You have it ALL wrong...Its Big Freakin' Deal...

Well, if I mess up, then it becomes my dime... so far, no mess ups... but I haven't tackled anything difficult... LOL
Yes...that costume made several appearances, didn't it
I think Leia had several white dresses that she could stuff into one suitcase and travel light, unlike her mother who needed a cargo ship... LOL... after all, she was on the run most of the time... those slinky knit dresses travel well, survive garbage pits, and never need ironing...

Compared to what I am un-able to do with sewing, I think you've tackled mondo difficult jobs, Granny!!
after all, she was on the run most of the time... those slinky knit dresses travel well, survive garbage pits, and never need ironing...
Woo-hoo! Although, I don't plan on treading through any garbage chutes, it's nice that this is one of "those" dresses.
(seriously...those four costumes I took to CIV took up soooo much luggage space, I could see where a trunk or something large would be needed )
No kidding! I'm surprised you didn't have to pay extra to put them on the plane!

Granny Wan, you rock!
Can't wait to see all three of you decked out for WonderCon!
I've got some girlies trying to deck me out as some anime character (I have no idea which one!) for an upcoming gig in the Spring.
I'll post pics if you three do!
And in terms of costumes. . .it pays to be on the short side. I can let the hem out of my padawans' Jedi robe and it fits perfectly! Hee hee!
Happy BFD!

I'm with you, Soph! I love being short sometimes, although I'm a bit undertall for my weight. Ah well. Can't have it all!
I'll post pics if you three do!
Oh, we will! Count on it! So, we'll be looking for yours!!

Do you paint men's shoes?? If i sent you a new pair of shoes sometime would you be able to make do with whatever style they were and make something cool on them?
I mean they would be leather and stuff probably and a white tones running shoe. Can you make them "manly" too? lolz.
