Padme...the greatest Force user of all time?!
Okay, so I'm watching Episode II yesterday on HBO Family. It's only my thousandth or so time seeing the flick, but I noticed something I had never seen before. Maybe you guys caught onto it, maybe not. I'll share my thoughts either way.

Here we are, at the climatic battle at the end of the movie. The Jedi have arrived in startling numbers and they are combating the emerging forces of what will become the Confederation of Indpendent Systems. Of course, I speak of the Battle of Geonosis.

There's a lull in the battle, after many Jedi have fallen, and it seems that our heroes are surrounded by impossible odds. Then, from above, Yoda arrives with a vertible armada of freshly ordained clone troopers...

...but did you ever notice who saw them first? That's right. Padme. She points to the skies and shouts "Look!" and the Jedi follow her gaze.

Now I ask you, how is it that, on a battlefield of experienced Jedi - some of them legendary, such as Mace Windu - none of them felt the presence of Yoda and untold hundreds of clones scant meters above their heads? Why was it that a "mere girl" with no Force powers to speak of, was the first to notice them?

Mayhap Padme was keeping something from Anakin. Maybe from us all...

Hm...:p

Yes, but why was Padme's lightsaber pink?

I don't think Padme was Force-sensitive. Someone, most likely Anakin, would have sensed the potential within her.

I DON'T THINK THAT PADME WAS A FORCE SENSITIVE. BUT I TOO WAS WATCHING THE ATTACK OF THE CLONES LAST NIGHT AND SOMETHING DAWNED ON ME.. ANAKIN WAS TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE OUTTA FEAR..AFTER HE LOST HS MOTHER, THE ONLY WOMAN IN HIS LIFE.. HE HAD TO CLING TO PADME TO FILL THAT VOID.. HE WAS AFRAID OF THE SAMETHING HAPPENING TO PADME THAT HAPPENED TO HIS MOTHER.. THIS FEELING WAS COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT THAT HE GOT TO SEE AND TALK TO HIS MOTHER BEFORE SHE DIED. . FEAR BROUGH ANAKIN TO THE DARK SIDE.

There's always the possibility that the Jedi did in fact sense Master Yoda and the clones, but for them it was nothing spectacular. They needed backup. They had backup. As Luke has said "Jedi are among the most pragmatic beings in the galaxy." Why would they need to look with their eyes at what they could clearly sense? But then Padme noticed them and said look! So I believe they merely obliged her simply because they were Jedi. No reason to ignore her. That's just my thought though. Great entry! I like these little random questions that make you have to understand every aspect of the movie!

Maybe Padmé just has a higher midichlorian count than the average non-forceuser? But it's possible that she could be a jedi, but her family would not let her go. The jedi wouldn't have taken her against her family's will.

The jedi wouldn't have taken her against her family's will.

Actually, yes they would've. They took many jedi against there family's will. One example is Roan Shryne, from the book Dark Lord: The Rise Of Darth Vader.

But it is still possible that she had a higher midichlorian count.

I agree with Skywalker's Fury: "the Jedi did in fact sense Master Yoda and the clones".
It was just a natural reaction too look up when Padmé said "Look!"
