I think we can all agree that on Mustafar, Anakin felt nothing but pure hatred for Obi-Wan. Obi-Wan had, in Anakin's eyes, taken everything from him: his wife, the rest of his limbs, and as far as Anakin knew, probably his life as well. However, the more I think about the OT, the more I think Vader's feelings about Obi-Wan have softened.
First of all, Vader is constantly talking about Obi-Wan. For example, he says that Obi-Wan can no longer help Luke in his training (we know, of course, that he can, but that's for another blog). Vader also tells Luke on a few occasions that Obi-Wan has taught him well. While this does not show that Vader grew to love Obi-Wan again of even like him, it shows, in my opinion, that Vader at leasts respects Obi-Wan.
Also, after his death on the Death Star, Anakin's ghost is standing with Obi-Wan and Yoda's ghosts. (I'm referring to the new version with Hayden, not the old one in this paragraph) At one point, Anakin looks down and away from Obi-Wan, which in my mind is his way of showing his shame for what he did. I don't believe he would have been ashamed had his old master not been standing there next to him. If Anakin still hated Obi-Wan, chances are he would not have had feelings of shame.
This isn't quite as developed as I would have liked, but I'm at work so I only have limited time to write a blog. As always, comments are welcome.
