In about 8 hours, we move into our offices in the Presidio to join ILM and LucasArts who have already made the migration over the past two months. I can't wait.
The changes go beyond just a new building. I look forward to once again working close to the many friends I left behind at LucasArts when I joined Licensing over 5 years ago. Though Licensing moved before when we transferred from offices at Skywalker Ranch to Big Rock Ranch, a mere 5 minutes up the hill, there's much about this move that is quite different. For me, it'll also be a change in lifestyle as I trade my commute by car to a commute by BART. We leave the isolation of the Marin hills and I lament that I will no longer see the cows, wild turkeys, turtles, and salamanders or the chance for that rare bobcat sighting.
But change is good. The Presidio promises a greater sense of Lucas company unity that I've longed for ever since I started at LucasArts in 1997. And being on public lands, we're much more a part of the neighboring community than we have ever been before.
Presidio, here we come.
Speaking of cows and change, the Division II
UC Davis Aggies played AND beat Stanford 20-17 in college football this weekend. The playing part is amazing enough. The winning part is monumental. Go Ags!
