General Solo's Rebel strike team
A listing of some of the members of the strike team assembled by General Han Solo to destroy the shield generator on the Endor moon.

Command Crew:
General Han Solo
Chewbacca
Princess Leia
Luke Skywalker
R2-D2
C-3PO

Most of the members of the strike team were named in the Galaxy Guide 5: Return of the Jedi roleplaying game supplement (1990) and the Decipher Collectible Card Game Endor (1999) and Death Star II (2000) card sets.
Dressellians:
3 Dressellians in commando gear are seen in the briefing room, though only 2 have been named so far. Panno may possibly be seen boarding the Tydirium.
Major Panno
Orrimaarko

Major Bren Derlin (mentioned in early script but not seen in film) [GG5]
Lieutenant Page [GG5]
Lieutenant Greeve [GG5]
Lieutenant Nik Sant (he's the guy that puts on the biker scout uniform)
Sergeant Bruckman
Sergeant Junkin (sometimes sports a goatee) [GG5]
Corporal Beezer [GG5]
Corporal Janse
Corporal Kensaric
Corporal Delevar [GG5] (aka Sergeant Brooks Carlson?) I speculate that these are actually the same actor.
Squalls [GG5]
Brenn Tantor [FC] (In the game Force Commander, Tantor coordinates the strike team from the Tydirium.]

Also note:
General Cracken is aboard the Millennium Falcon during the battle. He often flies support missions for General Madine's commandos. It is unclear where Madine is during the battle, though there are photos taken on the set with Madine sitting in Admiral Ackbar's command chair of Home One.

There was a pretty decent size task force, if I recall. I think we should have a "What's the Story" to fill in the backgrounds of any not yet named...

And, in all my self-serving glory, I feel this way because I want to get something I have in mind submitted... ;)

Jeez, no other comments? I guess I'll just have to make up all the other stories for those "unknown soldiers."

Well, *I* at least appreciate the blog. I love learning about those characters that you see that, for me anyway, I can relate with. I wouldn't be the Han Solo, I'd be the third guy from the left, 2nd to last row....

- What about the known / unknown Commandoes that were featured on promo photos standing in the DS II Throne Roome with Vader & Luke?
- What about Major Derlin & Lieutenant Page?
- What about all these unknown commandoes?
* There is at least one dark skinned guy (seen behind Sant)
* One who's wearing a long jacket.

* Here I see Greeve & Sant. Who are the other dudes? The card images isn't that good, I know :)
- Where exactly can Corporal Beezer be seen in the movie?
- Who's the bearded commando wearing a long jacket?
- More about Cracken & Blount :p

The main problem is the Headquarters Frigate and Tydirium loading and interior scenes were shot separately in studio from the Endor scenes shot on location. As far as I know, none of the background characters appear in both. There aren't many reference shots of the Rebel commandos filmed in the studio, and even fewer of those filmed on location. I'll add Page (identified in the CCG as one of the Rebels in the briefing room scenes) and Derlin (who we know is not in the film, but is mentioned in early scripts.)

Beezer appears in the studio group shot photos, though I haven't spotted her in the film. Long-jacket-with-beard-guy shots could have been taken anywhere at any time, so there's no guarantee he's in the film. It'd be difficult to prove that long-jacket-guy-on surface wasn't one of the guys seen in the briefing room. After all, they are allowed to change every once in while.

Thank you very much :) I know about the problems of the shooting schedule. It's quite a mess. I have also tried to construct the Strike Team and it caused me to do a lot of puzzling. I kind of ruled out all the characters that weren't really seen onscreen (Beezer, Carlson).

- Junkin for example is seen in the promo pictures and is also in the movie. There is also a pic in the forest of Junkin on the bonus dvd.Junkin, eyes closed

- Bruckman is also in the movie.

Sorry to add something else, but in GG 5 another demolition expert is mentioned: Squalls. He could - of course - be one of the unknown Commandos.

General Cracken is aboard the Millennium Falcon during the battle.

So are you saying that the Colonel Cracken character identified in the CCG is actually being retconned to be General Airen Cracken? Or is he still just some other guy named Cracken?

I've always gone under the assumption that they were the same guy.

Nice ! I can update my blog :) I always thought they were one and the same as well, but it has never been officially confirmed. Until now.

What about Brenn Tantor? He stayed in the shuttle and co-ordinated in Force Commander, although that game shoehorned him into commanding every pivotal engagement in the Civil War - Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, Coruscant etc.

Added. Not sure if he fits in perfectly continuity-wise, but we'll see if we can find a way to make it fit. Thanks for reminding me.

Hmm. I'd be really hesitant to call Colonel Cracken and General Cracken the same guy. For one, it would require a demotion for Cracken, followed by a re-promotion very soon after. Secondly, his mission profile seem nothing like Airen Cracken's. Airen is in charge of intelligence, and spends most of his time either behind a desk or covertly travelling to meet with his many operatives. Colonel Cracken does work as a spy, but he is also a scout and appears to be primarily a pilot, in command of Tala Squadron for ground support operations. I suppose it's possible Cracken both got demoted and led THAT busy a life, but I think it makes more sense to say that Colonel Cracken is a relative of the good General.

Or possibly he went into the battle with a different rank and fake background specifically to throw off the sent of any Imperial Assasins hoping to slow the brunt of the Rebel attack.
