Non-Star Wars terms that we shouldn't use (but sometimes do)
Lightsabers, speeders, walkers, blasters, comlinks, Star Destroyers, hyperspace - Star Wars is populated by countless terms unique to the property that make it Star Warsy. It may be hard for some of you to believe, but there are other franchises that have their own unique terms also. Every so often, a Star Wars author will (consciously or subconsciously), use these terms in their Star Wars works. We try to catch them all, though on one or two very rare occasions, they'll sneak in. Here's a list of a few of the non-Star Wars terms that we've seen submitted for approval in the past and their Star Wars equivalents.

Battlestar Galactica
dradis: sensor system = com-scan
frak: expletive

Farcscape
frell: expletive

Firefly
gorram: expletive

Marvel Comics
adamantium: a metal = laminamium, Mandalorian iron

Star Trek
dilithium: used to power starships
phaser: weapon = blasters
photon torpedo: starship weapon = proton torpedo
warp speed, warp drive: faster-than-light speed and technology = lightspeed, hyperspace, hyperdrive

I'm not including proper names and other more obvious terms that no one would even consider entering into the Star Wars lexicon. I do not plan to include lesser known terms or franchises or generic terms that are used markedly by a particular franchise. I should also mention that this blog isn't about visual Easter Eggs like E.T.s in the Senate or a Firefly ship seen in the streets of Coruscant.
